I think that the agreement reached about antisemitism in Berlin is not good and represents a coalescing around the logic of Staatsräson. This is based on a bad conception of antisemitism and accepts many false assumptions of the right-wing press. >

The most important thing is that this doesn't fracture Die Linke. The party should accept a spectrum of opinion on the Middle East in a municipal context, and the new coalition's leadership needs to find ways to enable a broad democratic spectrum on this issue. >

FYI: In Berlin leben ca. 35,000 Juden, tendenz steigend.

This by @nimrodflash.bsky.social helps correct the most typical misunderstanding of imperialism: it is not something certain "bad states" do, but a global system in which capitalist factions forge cross-border alliances to tilt the playing field to their own advantage. jacobin.com/2026/03/neta...

The war on Iran is a joint effort by segments of the US, Israeli, European, and Arab ruling classes that are committed to global and regional domination — not just the result of Israeli pressure on Donald Trump.

And if this happens, and the block facing Netanyahu insists on not relying on Arab votes, there will be another election cycle. But if they are willing to negotiate something with the joint list or its components, we could see an alternative government. >

This is not the most likely outcome. They might also surrender and form a coalition with Netanyahu. But if they are willing to recognize Arab votes as legitimate, this could open the door to meaningful change - including in Gaza and the West Bank.

But the public pressure stemming from the state of emergency of the Palestinian community, both after two years of genocide in Gaza and political repression at home, along with the sharp rise in criminal killings and gang violence, forced Abbas to move toward unity yesterday. >

This isn't final at all, but if the joint list really reunifies, and if the elections are fair (big if), it means one thing: Bibi's extreme-right can't reach a 61-seat majority. A big joint list of 15-17 seats means Bibi is stuck with 50-53. No question about it. >

The deal was conditioned on progress on the civilian internal front and the Palestinian issue. In the end, Gantz chickened out each time and collapsed the deal, but the JL was there and willing to use its power to make an impact. >

Back to the present. Ra'am's Mansour Abbas didn't want a joint list because he wants to be a supplement to the Bennett coalition. Bennett told him that if he runs with the joint list, he would be considered too extreme to be a partner, and Abbas accepted this reality. >

Balad rejects any collaboration with Zionist parties and opposes the idea that Palestinian parties should participate in a political coalition. Hadash and Ta'al want to use their electoral influence to shape the political landscape, but only under certain conditions. >

They propose a political project that shifts the direction of the Israeli center and center-left. This was the approach of the joint list in its previous iterations: it negotiated a supply and demand deal with the Gantz block. >

There are four parties on the joint list: Socialist, Jewish-Arab Hadash (my party), Moderate Islamist Ra'am (Mansour Abbas's party), nationalist-liberal Balad (let's assume that Western pro-Palestine protestors would be Balad), and personalist Ta'al (Ahmad Tibi's one-man show). >

Ra'am was part of the previous Bennett coalition. It is running on a platform that states it wants to be part of a government serving the interests of Arabs within Israel and is willing to delay addressing the larger Palestinian issue. >

Last night, during a large demonstration by the Palestinian community in Israel in Sakhnin against widespread crime in Arab society and the lack of action from the police and government, the four components of the Joint List signed a tentative agreement to reunite the list. >

They acted under intense public pressure, which demands a unified list and expressed this in the demo. It is not yet final, but it's a major and surprising development that could significantly influence the next Israeli government. >

Proud of my brilliant, beautiful, and brave wife, Tamar Raphael, who did what she had to do while speaking at the Frankfurt Book Fair and made a statement in support of Palestinian rights. She was later viciously attacked by a digital mob of Israeli fascists, but she’s fine.

1/3 In the past 24 hours, Israel killed over 100 Palestinians in Gaza, including over 40 children. Such a massacre would have shaken global opinion to the core just a few years ago, but after 2 years of genocide, it now seems commonplace, and the world has become anesthetized>

1. Against the backdrop of the last occurrences in Gaza, the Israeli government is appointing dangerous radicals to key positions, making permanent the extreme-right rule over Israeli institutions: a week and a half ago, David Zini was appointed as head of Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency)>

1. We are hopeful for the first time in two horrific years. A ceasefire deal was signed between Israel and Hamas. If completed, it will bring an end to the genocidal war in Gaza. It sees Israeli and Palestinian hostages and prisoners freed, and a retreat of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip>

🧵 There are good reasons to be a bit happy today, and they go beyond the end of the slaughter in Gaza and the release of many people on both sides. The way this ceasefire was achieved is better than most optimistic scenarios for a ceasefire we could have expected. >

The huge powers of the Palestine solidarity movement that erupted all over the world in the past 2 years must be channeled to a productive pressure campaign against the occupation and apartheid, and build a global front for a Palestinian state, isolating Israel and the US.

On the other hand, Trump is still very loyal to Netanyahu and to the settler movement, and his recent slight tilt toward the side of the Arab world does not mean he has any sentiments for the Palestinians (nor does his buddies in Saudi and UAE). >

Therefore, it is critical to continue pressuring for persistence of the ceasefire, full withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza, and Palestinian sovereignty over the Strip. It is also essential to pursue accountability for the genocide through legal and other tools. >

While the second stage of the Trump plan is an imperialist plan determined to appoint Tony Blaire to watch over Gaza and develop it for investors, when you look at the way the different actors interpret the plan, many insist on Palestinian rule there. >

This doesn't mean there will be a PLO government in Gaza soon. Still, it does mean that the Israeli consistent demand for full security control over the Gaza Strip is unacceptable to regional actors and is not completely endorsed by the Trump administration. >

Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer, will receive the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor from Isaac Herzog. Is it for the fake news he distributed via BILD?

A new poll finds that 32% of Israeli Jews think it is right for soldiers to refuse participating in warfare if it endangers the hostages. The process of crumbling trust in the state, which started during the legal overhaul, is intensifying.
