Go see Wildwood. Seriously, don’t waitβ€”go see Wildwood. What a piece of art. The love for the manual craft, for story that doesn’t hold back, for filmmaking that is not here to answer to stockholders, it weaves all through it. Incredible stuff.

[OC] hark; the bells toll first full illustration in over a year... """""helping"""" with the heart of war instrumental had me looking up stuff like 'top 10 chinese instruments' so heres the two i like the most - the suona and bianzhong #oc #illustration

i think i read only TWO good books this summer which were A Trade of Blood by Robert Jackson Bennett and The Poet Empress by Shen Tao. everything else i've picked up has been so mid that im tired but fanfic and manga is making me enjoy reading again

started reading the Witch Hat Atelier manga and im enjoying lot as evidenced by the bajillion photos of the pages now saved on my phone and the fact it took me a solid hour to get through the first half of vol. 1 cuz i keep pausing to study the art

#Studies from the past 4 days - mix of Leyendecker studies and stuff from Trueref no concrete goal other than building visual library + mileage. tho im also trying to use less guidelines and more or less freehand as much as i can

BRIEF evolution of my table from Feb. 2023 -> Nov. 2023 -> Mar. 2024 -> Sep. 2026 (most recent) I had the most drastic changes in the first year and a half and then it was just small changes 2024 onward as I slowly expanded inventory. Logarithmic improvement.

fun video idea i could do: go through all my artist alley tables and rate them a score out of 10 and talk about the slow improvements i made of course, that requires video editing so idk if i'll get to that soon lol but it IS something i'd love to talk about one day

2025--present was mainly taking what I established and making slow improvements and being able to take more risks with new products now that I had a good foundation + I was consistently making decent money at shows (no longer in the red lol). Small changes that make a big difference

This also just shows that branding and figuring out your display doesn't happen over night and it takes a lot of experimenting and learning from failure. 3.5 years to get to where I am now without any prior sales knowledge!

The first year was dedicated to figuring out my identity and learning how to do the whole artist alley business thing, so there was lots of experimentation going on. I mainly followed advice from more experienced folks but quickly found not all advice helped me. I had to figure things out myself.

My second year of vending (2024) was when I figured out the basis of my current brand and where I was starting to take off. I learned A LOT from my mistakes in the first year and it was just small adjustments to the table at each show e.g. signage improvements, placing things differently
