Aurora Sprint Feb 23-27 in Reykjavík, Iceland. ~20 Nix developers from across the globe advancing Nix as the platform for building embedded Linux systems. Among many other contributions teams pushed the hardware boundaries of NixOS, refactored initrd secrets and added HIL testing to buildbot-nix.

#Oslo has a #nix meetup. Seems like they had a very nice and fun session and played a round of "Roast my Config!". The NixOS foundation helped out with drinks and food.

At the recent #Nix #Bern #meetup Michael Stapelberg, the inventor and maintainer of the i3 window manager, talked about why he switched to Nix. Michael is a former Debian Linux Developer, and creator of the Go appliance platform gokrazy. He tried NixOS from time to time, finally went all in in 2025

Another #nix #meetup in Dresden: Marcel and Sandro gave a refresher on the NüschtOS Options Search. It consists only of a few static files: lightweight and easy to embed into docs. Goeran then presented a module for netbooting NixOS systems over DHCP, with configuration based on MAC addresses.

More news on #Nix #meetups The December installment of the Dresden Nix Meetup took place at the local SAP office. Martin from Cyberus Technology introduced a NixOS module for declarative VM management, which can be found at CTRL-OS Modules. We hear the next one is on 17th March in the SAP Office.
