it's so cool that I can just ask claude to find a way to require double clicking on taskbar icons to open them after getting annoyed that I keep accidentally starting programs

Someone inadvertently removed an lfence from the linux kernel but it was there for spectre mitigation that's what we call chesterton's lfence

WA’s endangered lynx have been largely trapped out of the mountain range that traverses Colville Indian Reservation and Colville National Forest, northeastern WA. For 1st time since early 1980s, biologists confirmed 2 litters of kittens in high-elevation forest. columbiainsight.org/washingtons-...

I do love that when a compass app asks me if I want to accept sharing data for legitimate interest with their 105 vendors I can instead just tell claude "make me a compass app"

turns out if you have a folder named "foo" and a folder named "foo ", opening either one in windows explorer opens the same one (so one is inaccessible)

Fully general machine translation is almost trivially undecidable. You can have a sentence that's ambiguous in one language, but that can't have that ambiguity (e.g. gender) in the target language, and the resolution of the ambiguity can depend on the truth value of an arbitrary sentence.

e.g., "In my story, every year, $1000 is given to a woman if the parity of the year matches the 5th digit of Chaitin's constant, and to a man otherwise. On the first page, we introduce the character that receives the money in 2028, and see them have breakfast." Now translate into French/German

Tbh developing physics-heavy things with Claude Code is kind of annoying. Even Opus 4.6 seems to have terrible taste here, always reaching for hacks instead of figuring out 𝘸𝘩𝘺 it doesn't work as it should. Runaway turbine? Let's impose a speed limit instead of finding where energy isn't conserved

So it turns out Claude Code can use TUIs if it uses tmux with capture-pane and send-keys (it managed to split my commit with `jj split`)
