I wish I had a better sense of who lied about this first. Did Vic lie about this to Howie or did Howie lie about this to the media? I strongly prefer the former to the latter.

The only defense I'll give is that I think they thought he might have some Edge capabilities but that obviously hasn't come to fruition. But yeah, as a whole that draft looks about as bad as it gets, I don't know if there is a single player who will earn a 2nd contract with the team. MAYBE Kendall.

Putting on a defensive clinic in the Super Bowl and then spending your first 5 picks on defensive players? And none of them are pass rushers? Absolutely nuts.

Deviating from the consensus board to spend a second premium pick on a second player at a non-premium position who also has injury concerns and wasn't even that good in college? Why didn't they let Howie Roseman run the draft?

"The Eagles don't have enough talent" was a talking point in 2012, 2015, and 2020. The Eagles then won the division in 2013, won the Super Bowl in 2017 and made the Super Bowl in 2022.

Nick doesn't deserve to be fired because of his performance this year, which has merely been inadequate but not horrific. Fortunately, he's deserved to be fired for essentially three years now so it'll be a pretty simple process after the season.

Jalen Carter makes too much money to do this. Riq Woolen is a mercenary who is allowed to go mercenary mode.

When things are definitely going well (via @ej-smith.bsky.social)

Jalen Carter, you were part of a wholesale failure on the defensive side of the ball while making more money than anyone else who plays on the defense. Take some accountability.

There are other problems but you are very apparently courting a very serious injury for a de minimis benefit. If the coaching staff can't get him out, the front office needs to.

I don’t think the Eagles should overreact on their Consensus Board-oriented draft philosophy to the early returns on Makai Lemon being low, considering how weak the class is overall

Tired: A 3-point barrage to fuel a comeback. Wired: Giving up a combined ZERO points off turnovers AND second chance points in the second half to erase a 29 point deficit. More on the improbable formula used in the greatest comeback in Sixers history. allphly.com/76ers/grit-f...

Good piece from Brendan--an evergreen statement. But one thing that probably isn't getting enough attention is Nova killing the Big 5 in an effort to ensure their middling coach can maybe get a team of mercenaries to a Sweet Sixteen one time in the next half decade.

The Philadelphia Big Five died (again). And it sucks. And I'm sorry if you can relate. A column from home ... www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

Hmmm, tough credibility competition between one of CBB's most brazen liars and the rest of the Big Five.

Cannot believe that the team that built the huge first half lead only to see it slip away and begin throwing a tantrum in the 4th quarter in this Sixers game is not the Sixers.

Josh O'Connor and Jack O'Connell should agree that anyone referring to one of them can reasonably be treated as referring to the correct one in any specific instance. For example, if I say "I think Josh O'Connor should have been nominated for an Oscar for Sinners," no one is allowed to correct me.

"There isn't a school at the high-major level paying less than $5 million this season."

How much are power-conference teams paying their 🏀 rosters in 2026? We spent a month talking to 100-plus sources, and we didn't rely on just the coaches for this info. ADs, GMs and even third-party consultants, too. All 80 high-major programs split into seven spending tiers. A CBS Sports exclusive:

Truly cannot replicate the thrill I get pairing someone like Daniel Day-Lewis with a director like Barry Sonnenfeld in Tentpole from any other game.

Apropos of that piece, it is insane that Nick--who just became the second-most powerful coach in the building this offseason--is the person who is going to be made to address this.

There are very few people affiliated with the Eagles whom I would believe think beating the Jacksonville Jaguars in London is more important than Jalen Hurts having more than a de minimis risk of dying on the football field.

Good for the Eagles. That "take the delay of game" punt play was a Day 1 install. Executed to perfection.

First question I'm asking at HC interviews is "how many times per season should you attempt to draw the other team offsides?" Any answer above 1 ensures no second interview.
