If you let the ads persuade you, You’re voting based on fear and hate. Their research shows triggering those emotions gets more votes. It also shuts down logical analysis and compassion. Turn off the ads. Find undistorted facts on the issues you care about.

When one candidate has way more ads than the other other… They’re more likely to serve the billionaires who paid for those ads.

Money is not the same as free speech. Billionaires buy ads, media and politicians, so they control what the “issues” are most of the time. Instead of their theft and corruption, the news talks about “income inequality”: a stupid phrase. Who wants a doctor to make the same as a fast food worker?

NPR just reported: “The president is riding a wave of low approval…” Um, isn’t that drowning?

Secretary of Treasury Bessent: “We’re launching ‘Operation Economic Outcast’ against Iran” … and CANADA?!?!? Oh, I get it: WE’RE the economic outcast. -Mission accomplished, a**hole.

“Money is free speech.” Republicans hacks on the Supreme Court made that bullshit up. Now elections are auctions. Bribes can get you anything. Our government is open to hostile takeover, in whole or in parts. When laws don’t matter, not even billionaires are safe.

I finally found a way I can stand listening to a Trump speech. “Alexa: play the Benny Hill theme song.”

I used to hope Republicans in Congress would see Trump is a fascist who’s destroying our democracy & some would eventually vote to stop him. But I was projecting my own values onto them. They most likely knew Trump better than me, & don’t care if the US becomes a fascist “shit-hole country”.

Even simpletons who don’t follow any news can see Trump screwed this up all by himself.

So now a few hundred DC police get pulled from their regular work, so they can walk around protecting a few thousand National Guard Trump sent in, untrained, to do police work? And this is helping?

Would you like that with or without protestors? The Republican Court will likely toss Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy. Outside on 10/7, the media set up inside or outside the barriers, so they could include or exclude the protestors. We don’t see the same news.

This guy wanted a selfie holding his Russian (Irkutsk, S.E. Siberian) flag in front of Congress. The US was in day 7 of our shutdown. He seemed delighted. Maybe he thinks Russians own us now. I can’t say he’s wrong.

The National Guard Trump’s abusing didn’t sign up for this. I met these two nice kids from Mississippi. They were patrolling the White House south lawn parking lot: a waste of their time. I thanked them for signing up, told them they weren’t needed & hoped they’d be home soon. What should we say?

Celebrating the guy who “discovered” islands he mis-named the “East Indies”, already full of indigenous (local) people who didn’t discover it. Also celebrating the indigenous people he killed & enslaved. But hey: “good people on both sides!”

Wonder why Trump hates comedians? Logical arguments mostly reinforce existing beliefs. Even the strongest ones just trigger emotions, which are faster than analysis in human brains. So it gets blocked without ever getting analyzed. But comedy IS emotional. “Dangerous” ideas and facts can sneak in.

DC shutdown leaves most of the Mall very empty and quiet, but destruction is brisk for the Billionaires’ Ballroom.

DC was nearly empty yesterday. Very few US tourists & almost no foreign visitors. I did see a few National Guard, some homeless people sleeping on steam grates, and extra security around the White House. It reminded me of the worst days of Covid, when hospitals were overflowing.

DC is almost empty. You can stand in streets that should be busy. Trump’s tariffs, threats, ICE, and unwanted troops are bad for the only thing he really cares about: business. Or profits.

How should a free citizen respond to this? Two National Guard troops ordered to stand in DC Metro at the Federal Triangle station. I wanted to explain how wrong this was; how they were being used. Instead, I just said “I hope you kids get to go home soon.”

3rd Amendment: "No Soldier shall in time of peace be quartered in any house without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war…". It’s one reason we went to war against Mad King George. My history teacher said it wasn’t important anymore. Is that right LA? DC? Boston? Chicago? Portland? Memphis?

The US must choose $ or democracy. Money is not free speech, when $ kill good ideas. Corporations are not people, when they’ll do any immoral thing to turn a profit. For-profit media respond to $, not people; and people without $ never get heard. Unlimited $ turns elections into auctions.

Federal workers are often invisible. But they do real things: Guide airplanes in to land. Predict floods so people don’t drown. Prevent epidemics. Find cures for cancers. Guard nuclear weapons. 300,000 (1/8) of fed workers will quit or be fired by January 1st. These things just won’t get done.
