If we criminalize individuals for failing to provide the necessities of life to dependents, then institutions that control access to those same necessities should be held to at least the same standard.

A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles. When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies. This is outrageous.

Dear 2K Games, PGA 2K25 is the second worst golf game there is, but don't get cocky, being the runner up in the race to the bottom is not trophy worthy. Links 2004 is better and that's a 21 year old game on a substantially weaker console. Your team should be embarrassed for releasing this dog shit.

Sorry Apple, had to switch back to macOS Sonoma. Zero regrets, it's a breath of fresh air and runs so much better. A cautionary tail to those who would follow Apple into the abyss of complete control -- don't do it, back out while you can.

The F-35 program is arguably the single most effective wealth-extraction apparatus the U.S. has ever created, disguised as “interoperability” and “alliance alignment.”

NDP leader Naheed Nenshi pulled few punches today… Not only did he condemn Smith’s claim Peter Lougheed would support her attack on human rights… He called her and the entire UCP caucus cowards. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

You'd have to be NUTS to vote for Pierre Poilievre, who is nothing but a Reform Party charlatan. He's only further hijacked the true Conservative party and turned it into a seething cesspool right wing extremist Reform Party cult. I can't say I'm really too surprised by his riding election failure.

Reneé🇨🇦@nonarkitten.bsky.social

I'm disappointed too. In Conservatives. Who think this Reform Party embodies one iota of what real Conservatism is about -- you know, community, culture, traditional values. No, they're all about the rip off Canadians for CEO salaries party. And you're all dumb shits for still supporting them.

Canada: we are better off when we're all different. Let's celebrate diversity. America: we're better off if everyone is like America, you should want to be us and if not, we'll raid your Parliament and install someone who will.

Disgusting. I’ve never been more ashamed to be Canadian right now. So disappointed in our government.

Jesus Christ. A standing ovation — from Liberals too — for Charlie Kirk in the Canadian House of Commons. You can (and should) oppose political violence without doing all this, you know.

The Liberals clapping to a Charlie Kirk eulogy is gross and shows who they really are. Fcuk them. Fcuk the Liberals in this country.

Charlie Kirk's death was a tragedy. But he built his name on provocation and white supremacy. He said that gun deaths of innocents was "worth it." On Mark Carney's first day as PM in Parliament Liberals gave Kirk a standing ovation. Ceding ground to extremism won't make them nicer.

ASUS is without a doubt, the worst fucking group of firmware developers on gods green earth. They couldn't write a decent firmware if you held a gun to their collective heads. They're more focused on adding "Cyperpunk swirls" to the UI rather than make their firmware stable and software useable DNB!

I’ve been working on a new form of democracy I call *Entremet Democracy* which adds layers beneath current layers of government. Every leader works their way up one layer at a time. No skipping layers, no buying your way in or using name recognition. 1/7

By removing these, it’s the closest to a pure democracy I believe we can get -- led by those who serve, not self-enrich. Corruption isn’t impossible, but it’s hard to sustain -- those below you can vote you out, opening the way for someone they trust. 6/7

Most people aren’t “Lord of the Flies” by nature. Faced with the chance to help shape their community, most will try to do good. With new voices cycling in each term, that basic optimism keeps the system honest, cooperative, and self-correcting. 7/7

Leaders aren’t picked by mass voters swayed by ads or charisma -- they’re chosen by 4–6 peers who’ve worked with them and trust them. To reach high office, you must build trust and earn promotion at every level, over years of direct collaboration. 4/7

It’s not pure sortition, not direct democracy, and not today’s representative system. It’s layered, small-group democracy with built-in churn, filtering for competence and trust while removing money, fame, and ambition as fast tracks to power. 5/7

It’s simple, fair, and keeps politics close to the people it serves. It keeps politics close to the people and ensures leaders have real, hands-on experience at every scale before reaching the top. 2/7

Base members are chosen by opt-out sortition, like jury duty. You can decline, but service builds a pension, so many stay until they retire out, move or change careers. No parties, no campaign ads, no big-money donations, no parachute candidates, and far less lobbyist influence. 3/7
