✍️ Miquel Queralt

Wrote about International Anthem as A24 for jazz (complimentary), the incredible wealth of music coming out of that world, and ANIMATIVE, the phenomenal new album from SML's Josh Johnson
It was 10 years ago today: @nicomuhly.com and Teitur's album 'Confessions' was released on Nonesuch: nicomuhlyandteitur.lnk.to/Confessions "Brilliantly witty, strangely compelling ... subtly affecting." —Gramophone
The lyrics on 'Confessions'—inspired by or culled from video and commentary the pair found on YouTube—are simple, matter-of-fact, fragmentary, funny, and strange, yet they attain a dignity paired with the music composed and arranged for @hollandbaroque.bsky.social, which performs it on the album.

It was 40 years ago today: Caetano Veloso's self-titled Nonesuch debut album was released. On the acoustic set, he performs his own classic material and interprets Cole Porter, Lennon/McCartney, and Michael Jackson. You can hear it at caetanoveloso.lnk.to/CaetanoVeloso
It was 10 years ago today: Conor Oberst's 'Ruminations' was released on Nonesuch. Five years later came the 2021 'Ruminations (Expanded Edition)' with five bonus tracks, four of which were previously unreleased. You can get the album and hear it at conoroberst.lnk.to/ruminations
In winter 2016, Oberst had found himself hibernating in his hometown of Omaha after living in NYC for more than a decade. He emerged with the unexpectedly raw, unadorned solo album 'Ruminations.' The results are almost sketch-like in their sparseness: him alone with his guitar, piano, and harmonica.
Tortoise has released “Night Gang [Carl Stone Remix}” digitally via @intlanthem.bsky.social / Nonesuch: tortoise.lnk.to/NightGangCar...
