Before the 19km (12mi) #Kamchiq Tunnel opened in 2016, there was no domestic railway route from #Tashkent to Eastern #Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 All trains had to transit #Tajikistan 🇹🇯 at great annual cost 💰 This is the longest broad gauge railway tunnel in the world 🚇 #NonstopEurotrip

Business Class on this train costs €23, but honestly I would always pay the extra. There is a @diningcar.at but only selling sandwiches, snacks and drinks... 🇺🇿

Now I'm heading back from #Andijan on the loco hauled O'zbekiston service on the slower north route to #Tashkent 🇺🇿 For this 7h journey I'm in one of the VIP compartments which costs €45 inc drinks ☕️ More stunning #Fergana Valley views incoming! 🚆 #Uzbekistan #NonstopEurotrip

In #Andijan 🇺🇿 I stayed at the Ozbekxon Boutique Hotel, just a 5 minute walk from the station 🚉 While nothing special, the room was comfy and it cost just €30 including breakfast ☕️ #Uzbekistan #NonstopEurotrip

This is #Uzbekistan's other NEW train - a single class, 160km/h capable, Chinese CR200J 🚆 My 4.5h trip is from #Tashkent to #Andijan 🇺🇿 which costs €18, including a pastry and tea ☕️ The route through the #Fergana Valley is stunning too - the country's best! 😍 #NonstopEurotrip

In #Tashkent I stayed at the ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Corner Hotel, about a 10 minute walk from the main station 🚉 The rooms were comfortable, and breakfast and train views were included! 😎 €39 per night 🇺🇿 #Uzbekistan #NonstopEurotrip

The railway museum in #Tashkent is well worth a little visit - it's just opposite the main station 🚆 Entry is €3 and there is a plethora of ex-Soviet locos, rolling stock and even a small railway you can ride! 🇺🇿 #Uzbekistan #NonstopEurotrip

Heading back to #Tashkent from #Khiva I decided to do a little Train vs Plane comparison 🇺🇿 So I flew biz on Uzbekistan Airways - which was quite disappointing 😞 Apart from the big seats, there was no priority service at all & the meal was crap! Price €158 ✈️ #NonstopEurotrip

In #Khiva I stayed at the ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Said Islom Hotel right outside the station 🚆 Very comfortable rooms, a nice pool, friendly staff and the most OTT breakfast room I've ever seen! €45 per night for a deluxe room 🇺🇿 #Uzbekistan #NonstopEurotrip

The food on Etihad Rail is complimentary in both classes 🚆 Comfort / Second Class could be a shawarma snack box with OJ, coffee & water, and Premium / First Class includes hot meals such as chicken machboos, cheese parathas, fruit salad & many drink options 🇦🇪 #NonstopEurotrip

Accessibility on Etihad Rail is excellent! 🇦🇪 Every station is 100% step-free with lifts, level boarding at every train door, and two wheelchair spaces with companion seats, along with a fully accessible toilet in the adjacent vestibule! ♿️ 🚆 #UAE #NonstopEurotrip

I have been staying at the ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stella di Mare hotel in Dubai Marina 🇦🇪 Because of the current 'regional difficulties', prices are crazy low, with this King Room costing just €70/night 😎 Btw, the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in! 💤 #NonstopEurotrip

Overall I am pretty impressed with Etihad Rail 🚆 The service is good, and once they up the frequency between Dubai & Abu Dhabi the benefits will grow exponentially 😎 The only bad point is the ride quality is not as good as I would expect from a new system! 🇦🇪 #NonstopEurotrip

My next Etihad Rail trip is the full route that is currently open from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah 🚆 The last section of this is the most scenic crossing the Hajar Mountains in eastern UAE 🇦🇪 My Premium Class lunch was a delicious chicken machboos 🤤 This 2h24m trip cost 130 AED / €34 💰 #NonstopEurotrip

Now I will check out the Premium Class offering on a 1 hour Etihad Rail trip from Dubai to Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪 The large seats are in a 2+1 layout, food is included, and you get lounge access. Prices start from just 79 AED / €19 - what a bargain, I'm impressed! 🚆 #NonstopEurotrip

My first ride on Etihad Rail is on this CAF unit from #AbuDhabi to #Dubai in the 2+2 layout Comfort / Second Class 🚆 This 1 hour trip starts from just €9.50 and even includes food, water & coffee! 🇦🇪 The ride quality is somewhat bumpy, but everything else is comfortable enough! #NonstopEurotrip
