My piece on using research to expose your opponent's weaknesses: “…power is more like a web than a monolith, & while your opponent may seem powerful, their power is not intrinsic, but rather derives from other people & institutions they cannot fully control.” wagingnonviolence.org/2026/04/powe...

These weekly demos in small North Carolina towns are making a difference in voter turnout. “What we're seeing today is there are a lot of people even in rural, what we would consider red areas, that are really upset with what is happening in this country.” @ed4d.bsky.social

As the federal government descends into fascism, citizens voting and engaging with local councils, boards and commissions to ensure good governance in our communities becomes all the more important.

“When power is concentrated––whether in governments, corporations or some fusion of the two—corruption is not an accident. It is a structural inevitability. Systems organized around concentrated power will…bend toward the interests of those who hold it.” wagingnonviolence.org/2026/06/resi...

Can you think of a single one of your tech gadgets that works 100% of the time—all day every day—and never glitches or fails? Critical technology that only works 99% of the time is useless and dangerous. Yet the tech oligarchs want AI to run the world.

"Political power is not intrinsic; it relies on outside sources to grant the ruler authority, human and material resources, skills and knowledge, and the ability to repress," writes Laura Gamboa. "Refusal to provide any of these can, and has, resulted in regime change." muse.jhu.edu/pub/1/a...

Damn right make him veto them and show the American people who is on their side. And the centrist Democrats will have to decide where they stand as well.

The struggles of the poor & working families are directly related to the wealth gap. In the US, the top 10% of households have 67% of the wealth. The bottom 50% of households have 2.5% of the wealth. Under-taxed billionaires are the main reason the social safety net is shrinking.

It's a UK study, but probably also relevant to US organizers: “The most useful thing campaigners can do to turn public support into action is to show that protest works. That means leading with concrete…examples of ordinary people winning through protest…” www.socialchangelab.org/research/mes...

socialchangelab.orgMessaging strategies to inspire public support for the right to protest — Social Change LabA trial with 3,500 UK adults finds that showing protest works does more to move people to defend protest rights than warning that those rights are under threat.

In the 1970s my middle class family was able to send me to a private university without student loans. My career earned me enough money to buy a house & have a comfortable retirement. Today, the country is more prosperous than ever, yet working families struggle while billionaires get richer.

This is the president of the United States talking about a Member of Congress…

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Q: If there is a problem with Ilhan Omar's age, could she be deported? TRUMP: She could be. She could also go to jail. I think she's a sick, very dishonest person who hates our country. She comes from a country that is essentially not even a country. Somalia. It's a real shit house.

No ruler has intrinsic power. They are all dependent on countless pillars of support. Without those sources of power, the most powerful dictator in the world becomes just another crackpot with starry-eyed dreams of world domination.

“At this moment, without Congress, there is no republic, only dictatorship. If the US is to remain a republic in 2027, members of Congress must honor their oaths to uphold the Constitution by ensuring a successful democratic transition of power.” www.commondreams.org/opinion/us-p...

The Democrats & their (financially secure) boomer supporters keep talking about defending democracy. But democracy means nothing to those living paycheck to paycheck. To win back working families, Democrats need to tell them how they will make their lives more affordable—AND THEN ACTUALLY DO IT!

Hey kids in the US…join the global movement!

Rivera Sun@riverasun.bsky.social

The kids are not alright … and they’re doing something about it. Around the world, young people are involved in major protests for better education, housing, and voting rights, including in India, France, Brazil, Spain, Chile, Albania, and Belgium. nonviolencenews.org/2026/10/17/o...

Folks, I know it’s easy to get excited about all the polls showing Democrats ahead and feel like this election is a done deal. But we can’t take anything for granted. That’s why I’m urging you to take part in a No Kings early voting event today where you live. https://www.nokings.org/

Don't get distracted by fake dichotomies like “left wing vs right wing” or even “progressive vs moderate.” A better political framing would be WORKING PEOPLE vs WEALTHY ELITES. If progressives are winning elections, it's because they care more about working families than their billionaire donors.

Where is Democrat Project 29? Dems may win big in this election as "anti-Trumpers" but long-term success will require a positive vision & policies that improve people's lives. Simply blocking Trump's agenda won't get healthcare, childcare, affordable housing & food security for working families.

“As individuals, we need to assess how much risk we are willing to take. At the same time, we know from movement history that in times of crisis, more people become willing to risk their own safety to protect their communities.” @eileenflanagan.bsky.social wagingnonviolence.org/2026/09/how-...

wagingnonviolence.orgHow to combat fear at the polls this NovemberAs we approach midterm elections shadowed by threats of violence, there are freely available trainings for people who want to protect the vote.

Feeling overwhelmed by the national political chaos? You still have power at the community level, so be sure to vote the whole ballot. And understand that after the election, local town councils and boards can be influenced by small groups that are strategic and persistent. The power is yours.
