The retreat is coming on nicely. Somewhere to sit and write. Somewhere to sit and read. Space to process photos, print them. Shelves for my camera and books. A fire to keep us warm birds and squirrels to entertain. I am most blessed. Living free from fear.

Thanks to Donald Trump we are all poorer and food is more expensive. And now ordinary Americans can fund the killing of women and children by buying Russian diesel. What a nightmare

What an exclusive! The Telegraph must have deployed all the tricks of the trade to wheedle this out of their sources at Reform.

I for one am reassured that an investigation into Reform UK, carried out by Reform UK, has found that Reform UK did nothing wrong www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/202...

These attacks are appalling. What place do such acts have in this world?

The ability to pour hundreds of millions of pounds into a loss-making TV channel, bent on wrenching British politics sharply to the right, is yet another of the ways in which extreme wealth is trying to remake UK democracy. It needs to be part of any serious conversation about political funding.

I find it mildly amusing that people worry that Chinese business might export data and urge the use of US companies and products without recognising that the US entities are doing exactly what they fear the Chinese may do.

A street corner in Norwich in 2026 traditional post box, telephone kiosk with working phone! Complete with an advert for junk factory food, a Chinese takeaway and a Nail Bar.

Difficult to disrupt an election in which the results are largely pre-determined

Moscow mayor says Moscow oil refinery hit in Ukrainian drone attack and claims that, since yesterday, more than 1,600 drones have been "repelled" over Russia; describes the attack as "unprecedented" and an attempt "to disrupt the [parliamentary] election."

I still hope for peace and cooperation to be the central essence of human interactions. Sadly I am witnessing hostility anger and violence based on stupidity and ignorance and a level of gullibility that almost looks like a desire to be manipulated by malevolent people.

A very unpleasant episode in the continuing radicalisation of some men by Reform and other disingenuous actors. Not in line with British values.

Your assessment should be the basis for discussion I appreciate your irony about the delegates from the USA who appear clueless in all settings

George Kennan understood during the Cold War, the Kremlin is impervious to reason but sensitive to force. Russia doesn't negotiate, it advances until resistance stops it. Negotiation actually give that advance momentum... But I'm sure Witkoff/Kushner, with their experience in real estate know this.

Yes a small number of unelected peers blocked it.

The engineered polls, them being published and the elections being held all linked

Peter Geoghegan@petergeoghegan.bsky.social

Farage saying that Reform didn't commission the polling in the Channel 4/Verbatim sting. The footage seems to show something very different - Reform chose scope of polling; the price; got it on newspaper front pages and hawked around the invoices to be paid by an impermissible donor!
