Inspiration and references were pulled of Hu Sanniang from Chinese peking opera. Hu Sanniang is a warrior from the Chinese literary epic Water Margin! I also used a reference of a dragon statue and classic dragon illustration depicted in tattoos. 🐲

I don’t know who needs to hear this but if you’re in a tough spot and you find yourself crying all the time and you don’t see any escape from the dark hole that you feel but you still get up every fucking morning, you are a strong person. Don’t forget that.

This is what success is as an artist to me: being a part of something bigger with a higher purpose to connect people and bring forth important subject matter that carries the conversation beyond a room of art. Very happy to have the access to a space like this with someone who shares this passion 🙏🏻

Regarding How I Met Your Mother (rewatching as an adult): IT TOOK 9 SEASONS TO GET TO THE POINT?!? Jesus Christ. Not to mention all the disgusting misogyny ironically coming from an actor who is gay IRL. I have so many issues with this show. 9 seasons. NINE. 🙄🔫

8/x The movie overall is an extreme but very notable example of abusive relationships and how they are hard to leave, especially when you love that person. It’s a conversation people don’t understand unless they’re in it. It’s a judged and silenced discussion followed by “why can’t you just leave”..

9/x in our day-to-day topics. It’s a thin ice to walk on: tell your friends about the abuse and they judge you for staying and act different around your partner or pretend everything is okay and hold it all inside. I commend this film for bringing that to the surface! Solid 10/10 watch.

6/x happened such as the breaking of the car window to k*ll Sarah (that was pretty much a given he was gone way too long - cmon man) and being extremely freaky at the friends’ party. Those moments are obvious but even so, the way it was played out still kept my attention. The how part is the trick..

7/x I also HAVE to mention the amazing cinematic choices especially with the lighting where Nikki becomes a silhouette/a dark shadow of herself. The light play and the colors to set the tone with the full and half shots really creates immersive scenes, which was inspiring as a photographer..
