But when our institutions repeatedly produce the very conditions that lead to riots, prison takeovers, or widespread distrust, we're forced to ask a harder question. If the systems we've built to maintain order provoke open rebellion... What does that say about the health of those systems?

Personally, if I were one of the Third Way ghouls who helped to hollow out labor, vilify the poor (especially when they’re black), and lay the ground work for furthering private profit over public good, I would shut the fuck up when a new era of young politicians attempted to revive my party.

A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down. All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown. So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!
