Small but impactful design decision: ❌ disabled: true ✅ enabled: false Don't use negative boolean options. They lead to confusion and mistakes. Mainly I am saying *I* make mistakes with these, it breaks my brain for some reason. Please be nice to me and stay positive!

Start of my second week back at work after a vacation, NodeConf EU, and a month in our Warsaw office. Just managed to get my unread emails under 200, that's progress. But I could use another vacation now please.

Haven't written a lick of CSS in a while now, but this site was my jam back in the day. Can't believe it has been so long, but guess that is how getting old works. Cool to see it having some new life in 2026.

Roaring fork. My fam used to make fun of me for spending too much on lunch here. It’s weird to be in Austin and feel nostalgic.

Layoffs announced for my 40th birthday 🫣. Porpoisly 🐬 ignoring everything till my Italy 🇮🇹 vacation is finito. Sorrento and the Amalfi coast was bellissima, arrividerci for now.

This broken clock was right twice I guess. I wish all the best to the deno team on their transition into CF.

The apartment building I lived in in Florence had this awesome fresco in the entry. 15 years later they now open the window and light it up to view from the street.

Thank you everyone for joining us at #NodeConfEU 2026! 💚 We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and we can’t wait to see you again next year! 📅👩‍💻 #TechCommunity #NodeCommunity

This!! The web apis are often designed for browsers and are not great for server and tooling use cases.

Sad that I will have to be suspicious of the people who tell me I look just like Ed Sheeran and how the love him. No I don’t have red hair. Yes this has happened to me more than a few times.

... Open source communities have been built on the assumption that contribution is personal and difficult. That there's a high bar that limits volume. We don't have the tools in place for anything other than that...

I *am* judging you. In the most empathetic way I can, but still.....👀. Let's bring back idolizing thoughtful high effort communication (he posts on the short form website, lol).

Got my ticket last week, now I need to figure out how I am getting there 🤣

First time at #NodeConf EU? Here’s what to expect: you’ll come for the talks, stick around for an 11 PM chat with your favorite #Node.JS #contributor, and leave with great #memories and new friends. A perfect mix of learning, community & fun! Do we need to say more? 🎟️ Tickets ti.to/apropos/node...

I'll be speaking about Supply Chain Security with @naugtur.pl at the meet.js x Netflix meetup on September 3rd! Excited to meet the JavaScript community at our Warsaw office.

Don't judge me, but yes I have decided to selectively introduce some LLM usage to my work when it is on the company dime and means I am not an outlier in the token use tracking.

vlt v1.03 dropped with faster installs at every layer. 158x faster packument generation. A warm cache that skips the network entirely on your second install. Tarball extraction, parallelized. github.com/vltpkg/vltpk...

I am a big fan of building *on* existing systems over *replacing* them. I am still processing some of the stuff on semver.xyz, but I am a HUGE fan of the @vlt.io team's *approach* to engineering the future of package management.

semver.xyzsemver.xyz — Semantic VersionsA modern versioning spec: restores build precedence and formally defines sets, ranges and comparators. Test the range grammar in your browser.

What if Semantic Versioning solved "is this compatible?" but not "is this safe?" SBOMs, provenance, lifecycle safety—all fragmented across ecosystems. Can we build *on* semver instead replacing it? Check out Darcy Clarke's talk, "Beyond Semver" at Node.js Interactive, Render ATL, Wed 2pm ET.

Anyone can build in a green field, it takes real skill, attention to detail, and drive to re-cultivate a system together. We have great Pioneers & Settlers. Lets celebrate more City Planners. (look up the PST model if you are not familiar with the reference).
