Went to watch Interstellar at IMAX yesterday. What a film. Haven’t seen it since it was first released. Sat there thinking about how far fetched I thought the premise of crops dying and humanity starving was. It doesn’t feel close but it feels the pace we are going, more probable.

There’s no backstory to how the world in which Interstellar is set, or rather it’s light on details about that. But I was a bit taken aback by all the themes of the film all going on at once. Sustainability, family, parenthood, survival, ego, bravery, fear, betrayal.

I’ve been down all kinds or Reddit wormholes with it. With Christopher Nolan more recently focusing on human choice, and power, from what I can wanted to focus more on human connection, within a sci fi (albeit scientifically grounded) setting.

Got up and watched the AEK game as a show of solidarity (bit with the gobshite fans waving bananas) but the young lads who got a game, and also Phil Foden who’s been at City for so long. His whole career, and you suspect part of his personal identity, is City.

The initial shock is dissipating following the incident involving Helen Haines, though I’m sure that’s not yet the case if you live in and around Wangaratta. It’s stunning, that such a thing can happen to both a person in general, and an elected official.

That this is the world we live in where people with mental health risk can pose dangers to the community and enough support isn’t there to prevent such things.

I look at how politics are treated in by politicians in America, and feel lucky to have a generally genuine set of MP’s here in Australia, even if one might not agree with all of their views.

Seeing news come out now about the alleged perpetrator, and without defending the actions, this persons story itself looks a cause for concern. We can still only speculate what the motives were. Mental health? Overly passionate about certain causes? Other things?

Martinez could be galvanising for the players. Or it could destroy the group. If I played for United, I’d be standing with him, and if I was at Elland Road, I be standing with the players in defiance of the board and wider coaching set up, Carrick aside.

Scores confusing last night. Woke up by a possum in the roof, and checked the score to see we were 4-1 up. Eventually woke up proper and saw the game ended 3-2.

Found myself a bit more motivated, and a bit clearer in my thinking, to talk about City again, now. I was eager to see the fan response in a home game, but the Champions League has always been a bit weird at the Etihad, if I’m honest.

I get Maresca’s siege mentality. He’s paid to get results for Manchester City. Fair play. So stand with him and the players and cheer them to victory. Don’t be getting involved, on the terraces with the rest of it, until it’s clear.

Anyway. That ship’s sailed, but should we lose the appeal, those fans watering bananas and glorifying cheating, I hope they eat the humble pie that they’d richly deserve a serving of. I’ve more thoughts on this, but it’s been a while. That will do for now (as I slowly rekindle my love for football)

Surely we should be saying, as fans of the sport (as well as well as the club) we want a fair competition. The energy should have gone in to supporting the lads who are also caught up in this, not chanting support for the owners.

It doesn’t mean I rule out a successful appeal. I’m open to the fact that could happen, but the fact we are in this boat isn’t great, and it’s damaging for the game. When the European Super League came along, we all stood together.

He’s a visionary, and what’s alleged to have been done (and proven so as far as the Premier League is concerned) isn’t criminal, but it’s not ethical, or fair. He can be smart, and clever for seeing the picture he’s created AND be a cheat at the same time.

I do feel for other fans. It’s odd being a City fan at the moment, but I ask for now sympathy (yet plenty of fans of other clubs have said it’s not the fans fault). But the attitude of travelling fans at Anfield….i just don’t subscribe to it.

I think you can say, it does look like we cheated. I’m going to keep supporting the club, and the lads, but not the board. (In the Tevez situation, he was a contracted player, and provided he met the managers conditions was entitled to play again, but he needed to earn my applause again).

Were the bananas an embracing of “we are bent and we know we are”? Or were they a nod to the eighties and early nineties? “We were here before all this, and we’ll be here long after.” It felt the former.

A more accurate feel will be taken tomorrow, in the league. But I’m reminded when Carlos Tevez returned from exile. This is obviously much bigger, of course. Fans either booed him or cheered him. I did neither, at first. You don’t have to always pick a side. Two things can be true.

I was a bit suprised (but shouldn’t have been, really) at the fans on Sunday, at Anfield. Defiance is one thing, denial, and in the face of your fellow football fans (even if rivals) is just odd.

I’ve had 10 hours sleep in the last three days. I’m jet lagged. I got up at 3am. I’ve been working since 4am. I’m dying for coffee and went to three independent shops in the local area. None open despite listings they were. Costa it is FFS.

I take solace in the amount of backlash I’m already seeing towards Infantino’s plans to sell off football. Its angst is reaching fever from fans, press, plenty of non-FIFA footballing suits. Hopefully we can put a stop to this.

I played 6-a-side in the park yesterday. I dallied when one got floated in to me, torn between and injury inducing overhead or a safer headed option. The next cross that came in I went for a horizontal scissor kick and landed on my arse. Fair play to this bloke! www.theguardian.com/football/202...

No golden boot, no golden ball, no gold medal. Cry for me Argentina, as you’ve built your hopes in me (perhaps to replace Diego, and wash away the guilt of how they treated that past hero). You are stuck with with this, with Enzo, with Paredes. That’s your legacy.

We lost exactly for this reason. Haven’t seen one person say Messi was a cheat. He is however a tax dodger and Saudi Arabian shill.
