[bluesky historian during WW2] you're the government! you figure out a way to stop enemy bomber planes identifying urban areas from the glow of domestic lighting! it's literally your fucking job!

Meteorologist: the changeable weather is expected to continue this week, so make sure you pack a waterproof Bluesky: oh I'm supposed to just buy a coat am I, during a cost of living crisis? And I suppose you're going to tell my landlord to let me put up a coat peg to hang it on?

Very funny how the interiors look like they've been done by the exact same people who do every cheap hotel, just with a bit more budget

Polyamorous people IMO sort of like Hare Krishnas or historical reenactors in that everyone has probably had a little chuckle now and then but you'd find it odd if you met someone with particularly strong animus towards them

While we're on it something needs to be done about the middle aged men on the Thameslink who stand up and push their way to the door 5 minutes before getting to London Bridge. We've not even gone through New Cross yet m8

These delivery services only really exist because platforms subsidised demand as a bet on automation. I don't believe even America has the appetite for food delivery at present day scales while paying workers anything like a living wage.

One thing the report talks about that no one seems to dwell on is that underdiagnosis and overdiagnosis (and misdiagnosis) are all happening simultaneously. People seem to just assume that diagnosis numbers going up = the right people are getting them

YouGov@yougov.co.uk

With much media coverage of a government report that ADHD and autism are being over-diagnosed, a claim which some experts have disputed, half of Britons now believe that the conditions are being over-diagnosed Over-diagnosed: 50% Under-diagnosed: 17% About right: 17% yougov.com/en-gb/daily-...

This in turn makes the actual diagnosis numbers to expected prevalence comparisons even more difficult because actual diagnosis is evidently not happening evenly across the population

We do things differently up here (we suck up to despots in the hope they build more residential tower blocks)

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham: “I'd be really concerned to lose Manchester City's owners. They’ve been such a huge partner in the building of modern Manchester, and obviously in building Manchester City into the global force that it is.”

Southampton finished 6th in 2016, missing out on Champions League football by one place. City finish 5th. Southampton's squad gets picked apart by bigger entities and the club goes into a protracted decline.

Impossible to say what would have happened, but maybe Sadio Mane, Jose Fonte would have stayed another season. Either way I can't imagine we'll ever get another chance to see the Saints in the Champions League
