@nteunion.bsky.social members at #ANU are voting for the right to take strike action to win better pay and conditions. Voting starts at 12pm on Tuesday 27 October and we're encouraging every NTEU member at ANU to Vote Yes to Every Question on the Ballot.

Union members at #UniCanberra have won an historic 17% superannuation for casuals! "[NTEU] members are standing up for job security, they’re making sure casuals are paid what they are worth and making sure we can end the super discrimination." - @nteunion.bsky.social's @lachlanclohesy.bsky.social

Earlier this week I addressed the 2026 Comcare National Conference on WHS impacts of organisational change done badly. Case study: Renew ANU. I am still filled with admiration for @nteunion.bsky.social members who stood up for one another at #ANU. It should never have been necessary. ✊

Great to catch up with Thomas Emerson MLA to discuss university governance at #UniCanberra, as well as the @nteunion.bsky.social's views on the state of the sector. It's great to see Independents backing the community on university governance. ✊

"Gone are the days when you could run this institution with little to no oversight... All staff are watching and we are prepared to call out the rubbish should similar failures occur again." - @nteunion.bsky.social ANU Branch President Millan Pintos-Lopez on #ANU.

"NTEU believes we need the autonomy and public investment to support and educate a 14-year-old schoolgirl to fulfil her potential to be whatever she wants to be." - @nteunion.bsky.social's @lachlanclohesy.bsky.social Public funds for the public good, not AUKUS. ✊ www.youtube.com/live/hcOh5H3...

Proud to represent @nteunion.bsky.social members today at the AUKUS Public Inquiry. Public money should be for the public good - education, healthcare, social services and housing - not for weapons of war. ✊

Lachlan was contrasting this with the public statement of former #ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt, who stated in 2022: "starting today we need to set a 14-year-old schoolgirl on a path to be captain of Australia's first nuclear-powered submarine."

Union members have endorsed Dr Elise Klein and Prof. Sasha Mikheyev as their endorsed candidates for ANU Council Elections. We strongly encourage all eligible staff to vote for Elise and Sasha. For more info about their reasons for running visit nteu.info/unionendorse...

Ian Prager and Amelia Dale are #ANU staff and @nteunion.bsky.social ANU Vice-Presidents. They reject claims that TEQSA's intervention undermines university autonomy. Staff & students *are* the university, and they'd lost confidence in Julie Bishop & ANU Council. www.crikey.com.au/2026/05/28/a...

crikey.com.auWe work at ANU. Julie Bishop's exit wasn't due to a university losing autonomy — the opposite is true'The higher education sector' is not boardroom members and chief executives. The sector is staff and students — and we are not 'rattled' at all.

Australian universities are in crisis. Students and staff are paying the price.    Thousands of university staff across the country took part in our National Class Sizes Survey. RSVP for NTEU's Class Sizes Report launch and an advance copy: nteu.info/classes-launch

Unfortunately, the case of #ANU exposes as myth the notion that corporate appointments are needed to ensure universities are well run. We need staff and student oversight, and @nteunion.bsky.social will stand up for it. That will need reform of the ANU Act. www.smh.com.au/national/uni...

“Many had high hopes for Bill Shorten as vice-chancellor and we’re disappointed it has come to this.” #UniCanberra staff "deserve much better than for excessive workloads to turn UC into Shorten’s sweatshop." @nteunion.bsky.social members at UC are standing up. ✊ region.com.au/disappointed...
