to hell with your 2,000 line file and to hell with the import you rode in on. oh wait, you didn't import anything it's all in the same file 😠

To whomever came up with the GoPro file naming format: I just want to talk. I'm sure there was a reasonable technical limitation behind this decision.

Forgot to mention that if you self host any version control software with a web interface you probably want to make it undiscoverable or private otherwise scrapers will be going through each and every commit on each and every file constantly

Archive.org is great for blogs and docs but it it can be a real pain if the code they link to is gone I've been self-hosting #gitea and now #forgejo for 5+ years, mostly for the ability to make auto-updating mirrors of any repos I want to ensure remain available.

@nyctugboatphotographer.com

lol at this ad for apple intelligence "available now" on @theverge.com article about apple being forced to remove "available now" from their marketing www.theverge.com/news/653413/...

@nyctugboatphotographer.com

This is a general call for everyone to stop using history.back() instead of linking to the actual page behind/above. If I can navigate to your page directly I don't want to go back to the new tab window when I click your "back" button!!

Just had an almost tragic reminder of "if you don't own the files you don't own the data" when an important Apple Note disappeared. Not in the recently deleted folder, not on iCloud.com, just gone Found it on an old laptop but then it got messed up when I exported it in RTF format

Related: If you rely upon any software at work or at home and the source is available you should be mirroring it. I know it seems so damn unlikely to disappear... But things happen and people delete their GitHub accounts.

@nyctugboatphotographer.com

Had to open my favorite hex editor (to make sure no unintentional formatting was going on) and manually unescape the RTF that got encoded as RTF again.
