I thought he was off base at second as it happened and was internally willing the Rays to keep running. Game could have been tied!

Replay is not really serving the sport here but you can't underestimate that it's just time for something bad to happen to the Brewers. Sports karma debt from Game 2 of the Padres series needs payment

College football #objectiveGameOfTheWeek - Week 8 #133 Akron at #128 Kent State! MACtion on a Saturday, noon ET These two teams are separated by a mere 0.06 of PASS rating. (Performance Against Strength of Schedule). Akron wins sims at a score of 25-22.

#blowoutWatch Week 8 #1 BYU @ #49 UCF The best performing team in the nation only has a 4 point projected advantage on the road, but has a PASS gap of 33.55, the biggest difference this week.

It'd be interesting to see how the roster improvement shakes out per dollar. Knowing a player-by-player breakdown on NIL would be really valuable for portal analytics, weighed against something like the movement/improvement tracker I built.

How much are power-conference teams paying their 🏀 rosters in 2026? We spent a month talking to 100-plus sources, and we didn't rely on just the coaches for this info. ADs, GMs and even third-party consultants, too. All 80 high-major programs split into seven spending tiers. A CBS Sports exclusive:

This one slipped away in the final 5 minutes but had been pretty hard fought up until that point. And Tylen Riley, phew! 31 points, 13 assists, 3 steals. The Bearcats haven't had many point guards do that historically

Here are the #cfb conference leaders in terms of likelihood to win their conference, from highest odds to lowest Miami FL - 70.7% James Madison - 70.5% Lib - 56.2% Oregon St - 54.6% New Mexico - 54% Ohio St - 39.3% Georgia - 37% Utah - 33.2% Western Michigan 32% Army - 29.7%

A reality that contradicts most #cfb ESPN / media narratives: The Big XII is the strongest conference in college football right now in overall performance and in scoring tempo margin. Not the SEC. Not the B1G. The box scores disagree with the dollars.

How did this happen? The SEC is middle heavy and their studs haven't done as much per play against weaker non-conf competition. The B1G is getting seriously weighed down by Rutgers and Maryland, the worst power conf teams

It comes as little surprise that the winner of this game will be the overwhelming favorite to win the B1G conference. Buckeyes are favored by less than half a point, but Hoosiers are ranked higher in both performance and tempo (Those teams win 83% of the time historically)

Replacing conference title games with an additional playoff round won't make ratings or the payoff better. It'll be worse. Why? CFP games historically are decided by an average of 19.2 points. They aren't generally good or close games.

Conference title games are trackably better television. There are rivalries, rematches, and much stronger narratives to cling to. And on top of all that, they tend to be much more competitive games, a 14.3 avg point margin. #cfb

Wednesday night! #125 Kennesaw St. @ #133 Missouri St. #117 Western Kentucky @ #127 Sam Houston Neither game projects as close as last night's pair, but these are still decent matchups. More in the alt text. #cfb

Both of these games are on pace for the over but I couldn't be happier that the model predicted close games and here we are with enticing Tuesday football #cfb

ObjectivelyBOO!@objectivelydrew.bsky.social

Close game alert(s)! Real @sickoscommittee.org Tuesday vibes here #118 Delaware @ #119 MTSU kicks off in a few. A simulation based on per play box score results puts this game at 25-23 in favor of the Blue Hens

Am I alone in feeling that EA can absolutely afford to pay out more for licensing AND do so without any microtransactions at all? It's obvious they can, it just means a lower threshold for CEO salary, shareholder take, and the other stuff that has nothing to do with making a game.

Matt Brown@mattbrown.bsky.social

so I'm tied up with a few things atm, but some very quick thoughts on this (1/2) * I BELIEVE the current EA license with schools is just for one more game. Will call about renewal schedule * My understanding is that the reported figures here for licensing costs for EA are actually undercounted.

I think Alex is spot on with the Oregon assessment here. The #5 ranked strength of schedule was bound to create a couple losses—FWIW the likelihood of grabbing a playoff slot is still 6.5%

Alex Kirshner@alexkirshner.com

I am actually reserving Oregon from this list for a few minutes bc 1) picked 'em to miss the playoff and 2) their second loss is bc their QB got decapitated. But let's consider them a likely riser as the year goes along www.sbnation.com/college-foot...

Iowa at Washington was my pick of the night after seeing that Vegas favored the Huskies for some reason. The box score odds had Iowa -4.5; they won sims 24-20 on average The Hawkeyes are already at 27 at the half.

Current objective view of this top tier and their title odds: #9 Miami - 19.9% #3 Texas - 2.3% #2 Indiana - 12.3% #8 Notre Dame - 7.0% #11 Georgia - 11.1% #12 Ohio State - 4.8% #1 Alabama - 10.6% Utah has a 7.6% chance as a 4th tier contender with better odds than three of these leaders
