Back before time began, there was the singulari - what? too far back? Hmm. I am a married cis male with a profound appetite for cheese and bread in all their forms. My pronouns are He/Him/Dude/Buddy. Also, I write stuff.

I want to make clear that posting 'I believe that every Republican is a closeted, self-loathing gay person' would be wrong. I don't believe that every Republican is a closeted, self-loathing gay person. So, I promise that I will not post that every Republican is a closeted, self-loathing gay person.

I am picky about who I follow. I look at what they post and what they have replied to, and if I see nothing from them- just reposts- I don't follow. I assume they are a 'bot account.

My observation is that, worldwide, somewhere between 20% and 30% of people want their lives to get better but don't want anything to change. They don't want to learn anything new or change anything about their lifestyle. They need someone or something to blame for the bad things that happen to them.

When I look at my "Chat" tab, I see a little graveyard of scammer accounts. I have eight so far, and I have been on BS for only a few months.

I wanted to say something profound about the state of the world today but, unfortunately, my subscription to my profound thought unit ran out last month. I haven't had the money to renew it.

People: Can we have a phone that doesn't spy on us? Cell Phone Makers: Hmm, how about one that folds and records everything you say, even when it's turned off? People: Can we have a TV that makes it convenient to add streaming I want? TV mfgr: How about we record everything you do and upload it?

I have been really slacking off for a few weeks now. I got carpal tunnel in my right hand from, I expect, constantly scrolling. I need to let it rest but all the other things I want to do require using my right hand. It's a bit frustrating.

My relative took me by the state capitol building ( or maybe this is an observatory on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Valley. I don't remember. There were too many trees.)

To my followers who haven't even been thinking about why I'm not posting, I took a vacation and didn't even turn on my laptop once for an entire eight days. It was ... great. I took a train to Oregon and visited a relative.

This was almost cuteness overload. My grandkids were over for a day of just hanging around. We were playing monster chase (I was the monster), and they ran ahead of me into the front bedroom. I walked slowly, making monster noises.

The youngest (3.5 yo) was on the bed, under the cover, squirming and giggling nonstop. The other (7 yo ) had tucked himself under a desk, being absolutely quiet. I touched the knee of the little one and he exploded in a frenzy of movement.

I think we could make Soccer more interesting if, instead of a "half-time" show, every thirty minutes they release (randomly) either three bulls (cattle, bison, yak, water buffalo, whatever is available) or thirty-five to forty puppies. The players have to keep playing without hurting the animals.

I managed to get out and clean the birdbath in the backyard last night. It had gotten pretty scummed up. I refilled it with clean water, and this morning a small flock of sparrows were drinking and bathing in it.

I have a desktop computer with a cheap graphics card in it with PopOS installed that I play Steam games on. I have played "No Man's Sky" on it without issue (other than I am terrible at it). PopOS is a Linux distro that is oriented towards playing games. You can also use it as your main computer OS.

I do not use Apple or Microsoft products. I use Mint Linux as my operating system. I use LibreOffice for my writing and spreadsheet work. I use GIMP for photo/image editing. I use Brave, Firefox, and LibreWolf for my browsing on the internet. I use Thunderbird as my mail tool.

Interestingly, all the chat contacts I've gotten through BlueSky end up being "Deleted Accounts" after a while. Every single one wants to switch to chatting on Telegram and then starts selling some crypto or trader-bot scheme.

It is the end of Cherry picking season in Brentwood California. I managed to get out there both on Wednesday and Thursday to get some "Sweetheart" cherries. I went to Sweet Lou's Orchard. Most of the other 'u-pick' orchards were closed.

Bratwurst, really, only needs a spicy mustard when you put it in a bun. Grilled onions wouldn't hurt and would enhance the flavor, but basically, all that is needed is the mustard. Now, a Louisiana Hot Link needs mayo and grilled peppers.

The perfect hamburger is mustard and ketchup on the bottom bun, then add pickles/pickled peppers, then a meat patty (cooked to medium), then a slice of Cheddar or Swiss cheese, then the grilled onions (or raw), then a couple of sweet tomato slices, iceberg lettuce, and finally mayo on the top bun.

I meant to leave a message yesterday, but got busy feeding a few hungry people. I hope that no more people get hurt, maimed, or killed in any more wars. I realize that it will require us to stop putting the fanatical, criminal, and greedy in charge of our societies.

Instead of going to the Farmer's Market, buying some fruit & veggies, then distributing door-to-door, I decided to contribute monthly to the Second Harvest Food Bank. I don't have a lot of spare cash, but I can spare this, I think.

So, I was talking to a buddy about old computer equipment when he texted that he gave an old "Dominatrix" printer to his sister. Of course, he meant "Dot Matrix" but I am going to forever call them Dominatrix printers.

Anybody know any of the guys from Green Day? It occurs to me that with some minor adjustments to the lyrics of "On Holiday," it could be a protest anthem called "On Voting Day".

@kurtbusiek.bsky.social We just had four astronauts go around the moon. Sounds like a good time to pop out an Astro City-Furst Family or Marvel F-4 cover with the actual astronauts mutated into superheroes. Maybe suggest it to your fellow CB artists as a sort of competition.

Who would have thought that running a country solely for the benefit of people who already have money would be a crappy way to run a country?

So we are made up of billions of individual cells. And each of those cells could survive without the others in the right stuff in a petri dish. So if a human dove into a giant petri dish with all the correct nutrients, would we dissolve?
