What a fantastic start & finish at our Women United: Women Power Work Stories in Action Conference last week, organized by the Ontario Women's History Network and the OFL & sponsored by the Society of United Professionals. The conversations were electric, deeply engaging teaching & learning moment.

Oct 1st, the OFL & ONIWG came together for our conference Rise up for Injured and Ill Workers. Drawing on the lived experience of workers injured or made ill on the job as well as subject matter experts, our program provided information on issues around claims suppression and occupational disease.

Mark Carney's government thinks that "Elbows Up" will protect Canada but expects that workers should not have the full rights of free collective bargaining. Let's show the federal and provincial government that the way workers and communities win is with "Feet in the Street"! Join a rally tomorrow!

Mark Carney believes that workers are ok with his Bill interfering with the Right to Strike.  Let’s show him how wrong he is! Join us this Friday October 2nd 2026 430pm  MP Aslam Rama’s Office 25 Charlton Ave E Hamilton

This morning was brought « sweet solidarity » to the striking workers ofOPSEU L276 - OSFHT who have been holding the line for 19 weeks! Check out how you can send a message to Sylvia Jones and Executive Director Rona Cobean to get back to the table and deliver a deal that works for workers.

President Laura Walton joined Grey Bruce Labour Council President Kevin Smith and Vice President Dave Trumble at a dinner celebrating the labour councils 70th anniversary! The stories and history of this labour council is a reminder that it is when workers join together, we win for our communities.

On Saturday night, we joined community and labour allies at Toronto’s Take Back The Night rally and march to raise our voices against gender-based and sexual violence. Together, we march, organize and demand action. #TBTN #WeBelieveSurvivors

Connecting with workers where they live, work & play is one of the pillars of the OFL’s Power Plan. Participating in CUPE 1287s Day in the Park provided us with the opportunity to have those connections! It was great to chat with members & the community of Niagara about the OFL & our affiliates!

Building a stronger Ontario demands that we have the most skilled workers! IOUE has invested in ensuring they are producing the best Operating Engineers with the opening of the Operating Engineers Training Institute of Ontario. Thank you for the invitation to the ribbon cutting!

So great to connect with the amazing members of USW in Hamilton - the town that Steel built! From community support like their Operation Backpack to unwavering support to their labour siblings in the area, these workers understand the importance for showing up and making a difference.

Proud to join Ramzi Abdi and the Waterloo District Labour Council for the "Take Back the Night" gathering and march last night. Powerful speakers, strong community support ending with a well attended march of women and allies demanding an end to sexual violence and intimate partner violence.

Ontario Education United! Across the province, over 250,000 workers & allies are proudly displaying their solidarity. The OFL was pleased to join CUPE 1328 in downtown Toronto today, talking with parents & community about the fight to protect publicly funded, publicly delivered education!

Last night President Laura Walton brought greetings to CUPW Ontario region leaders & activists at their Education Workshop weekend! A special highlight was Prevention Link staff Jody Jones presenting the Prevention Link activist award to Lina McLean - Regional Education & Organization Officer.

Today the OFL was invited to the grand opening of The Society’s Oshawa office. Today’s event celebrated by local politicians, community members and labour friends, shows the commitment that workers from OPG, Hydro One and Legal Aid are making to the Durham Community. Congratulations on your space!

Flipping pancakes to fuel the flipping of the riding! President Laura Spencer Walton was joined by workers & community members at a Pancake breakfast to kick off a neighbourhood canvass for Monique Taylor - Hamilton East Stoney Creek ONDP! Monique is the voice that Hamilton needs in Queen's Park!

Congratulations to Stephen MacIsaac, recipient of the 2026 OFL/Union Savings First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Circle Indigenous Bursary! We were pleased to present him with a $5,000 cheque toward his Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Thanks to Union Savings for helping make this bursary possible.

This week, we had the chance to stand with USW 7135 on their picket line at National Steel Car. This employer is attempting to undermine the health and safety rights of these workers. These individuals have the right to work and return home safely. Shout out to CUPE 7800 for the ice cream.

We traveled to show our support for the small yet determined picket line in Niagara, where USW L14241-01 at Salit Steel has been striking since June 24, 2026. These workers are defending their hard-earned RRSP contributions & addressing other critical issues that the employer is trying to reduce.

What an amazing night to get out with OSBCU - CSCSO education workers canvassing throughout Paul Calandra's riding! While the Ford government wants to spend taxpayer dollars on ads attacking teachers and education workers, the workers hit the pavement to talk to the community.

Please note this event has been postponed, watch for a future date.

OFL officers, Laura Walton, Ahmad Gaied and Michael Hamilton were on the line this morning to support West Jet workers! One would think that the airline industry would recognize the need to pay workers for all time worked! Just a year ago Air Canada workers went on strike over the same issue!

Today the OFL joined affiliates to celebrate a Toronto Caribbean Carnival! A celebration and display of culture, community and rich in history! It was amazing to connect with so many workers on floats and on da road! Happy Caribana!
