If you can't remember whether the clocks go forward or back in the UK this weekend, here's a handy phrase to help you: the clocks go back this weekend

There’s fast system 1 and slow system 2 thinking. There’s also very slow system 3 thinking where you doubt the assumptions you’re making. From my poker/chess experience it’s usually a mistake to overthink in this manner…you’ll end up doing something you rejected earlier

Code Red October (trying to make this the name) will things get worse and then we'll have ai finding and patching bugs faster than any human can exploit? or is there too much legacy software with no hope of keeping up?

first, they came for the developers then they came for the mathematicians then they went for the developers again…and again…and again

The macOS built-in curl, git, pip, python3, perl, ruby, and openssl all read /etc/ssl/cert.pem, which still has the emSign root, but they don't check revocation like Apple's Secure Transport libraries. This is, uh, a problem. git and pip especially. I added a short-term workaround to this page.

running any php on a website right now is basically the equivalent of double clicking big_titty_mpreg_charlie_kirk.exe after downloading it from napster and turning off your antivirus

hey did you know you're kinda cool proven, in lean theorem you_are_cool {You Cool : Prop} (beingYouIsCool : You β†’ Cool) (justBeYou : You) : Cool := beingYouIsCool justBeYou

nothing kills ego like testing your beliefs against reality tried following a real proof after learning lean and it’s entirely lost on me

developer puts on running shoes mathematician says β€œyou can’t outrun ai” developer says β€œI don’t need to, I just need to outrun you”

let's dig into the prompt engineering the openai team used to solve the hardest math problems... they pretty much just asked the question each time

horror story in 5 words > and nobody's checked the squisher

lay version πŸ’™ it claims ai-found proofs of famous open problems, but most are 'resolved' only after compaction β€” squishing long messy proofs into short ones β€” and nobody's checked the squisher. sept's result got trust bc lean verified it. this needs that same receipt πŸ’œ
