Gun to head & I would agree that this is a legit Capcom thing Just waiting for that one bit of 1st hand evidence to eliminate all doubt forever. No need to contribute further unless it's to anything tangibly, irrefutably 1st hand, or from the 90s like a magazine pic Thanks for all the input so far

No takers so far on the "I'll give you £100 if you're the 1st person to prove Capcom had literally anything to do with this 'prototype' game" challenge Got a funny feeling that money won't be going anywhere but I will happily pay up if I'm wrong

way, way more. idk, maybe there's loads of them in hbmame? It's not something I've ever bothered with tldr, I'll paypal you £100 if you're the 1st who can prove this was even hinted at as being a Capcom game before say 2018. Anything in Japanese from a mag/book, a wayback link, a loketest memory...

Vandal Hearts is, was & shall always be the most fun SRPG ever made in my eyes. No grinding, no repeat maps, no praying for rare drops. Just a game with a start, an end, and a load of cool, unique set pieces in-between that you play through. Also some secrets Learn about or reminisce here👇

I cannot wait to learn that their new project is a vibe coded screensaver of one of their rarer items & the entire grant is spent localizing it into English by writing うぃんでぃあのかなり濃い小水 as WINDIA'S PISS in Comic Sans They will still continue to remain in business somehow

Cave managed to get in on the IP360 initiative: they've been given a 50% subsidy grant (up to ¥40M) for the global localisation of an as-yet-unrevealed new project/s https://contents.xj-storage.jp/xcontents/37600/2b012aa0/2fd1/4f9d/93fb/80d4f491dc47/140120261023555427.pdf 🇯🇵

Gulun.Pa! is a '1993 prototype Capcom CPS1 game' according to every wiki & emu site No mention of it existed before 2020, it uses the same chime sounds as every not quite legit Korean game ever & runs on the most bootlegged, hacked arcade hardware in history🤔

It's katakana name from the title screen does not exist on the internet in any language, anywhere. It solely exists, in English, on self-referencing wikis & emulator sites. Some say it might be related to Mitchell Corp, you know, as it looks & sounds literally nothing like a Capcom game🤦‍♂️

This is certainly higher effort than the literal million CPS1 romhacks & graphic swaps that made up the half of Chinese arcades in the 90s that weren't just directly copied Neo Geo games You think SF2CE had mega bootlegs as some made it to the West? Cadillacs, Punisher, Tenchi2, Capt Commando had

weird flex time: I have never used ai. I have never paid for a streaming service or watched a current TV show or movie on a computer. I have never pirated a current game. I have owned 2 mobile phones. I have never called an Uber. I have never been on a video call

weird flex time: not only have i never used ai, i also have never had a netflix acct 💅

I have never emulated a PC or console game past the 16bit era unless is was for a tournament (some DC shmups & a few PC ones). My lifetime play of emulated 16bit or earlier PC / console games is maybe a couple of hours. I have never played a console or PC game romhack or fan translation

obvs I have nothing against emulation (other than when it's shit, which it always was when it 1st came about decades ago, it seems mostly excellent these days) & I play mame all the time, I just have no need for it. Too many other things to do & games I already own to have bothered with it really

THE BEAUTY IS IN THE DETAILS proclaims inept fuckwits who are advertising Dark Mist as a Raiden game & using the Raiden Fighters Jet artwork on the cab despite not having it listed as an included game due to inept fuckwittery

plenty to scrutinise with this one https://www.unico-usa.com/pages/unico-arcade-raiden-19 but let's start here: Dark Mist?

I've even uploaded a couple of older vids for other games today to test & they default to 1080P playback like they've always done No idea what youtube's issue with Victory Lap is? 3 vids yesterday & 2 today, all wack by default & an ACA friend's seemed to be the same whilst BIG's vid was HD idk??🤷‍♂️

Nah, if you play a beat em up solo & just credit feed through, you'll still have a good time if the game's good The only problem's when that's all people know how to do so end up with a 'pay to win' mentality, where arcade games are deemed impossible to beat with skill alone, as they've not tried

Best-em-ups are the OG social co-op game. People like me have “fun while losing” and “enjoy continuing the game” precisely because it’s not difficult and requires little focus, it’s laid back fun while chatting with friends. If you play a beat-em-up solo you will likely have a bad time.

Even wth console games mags used to moan that having access to too many continues made some games too easy. Like bruh, just don't use them then but if the option's there, most people will take them. Give them none & that's usually a bigger issue Most people credit fed Super Mario & Dark Souls when

they 1st beat games like that, as they were still challenging / rewarding. People learned to '1cc' or speedrun stuff like that simply by having access to the games at home. You play, you learn etc For most arcades were a rarer, shorter event. Cram as much in ASAP & it's done. On to the next game🤷‍♂️

Getting strong Otogirisou Sosei-Hen vibes from this says the game's biggest Western fan as Spongebob appears on an advert on the bar's TV. The other patrons nod sagely as he prays he's not found out to be a fraud who only heard of the game yesterday & hasn't played it yet. It is his personality now

This post is unavailable.

"with my AI translation I will maybe get something which might be a bit like the original but maybe not. It doesn't matter, I have no way to tell & nobody else knows anyway so I will sound clever when I mention the game at every opportunity from now on" Many Gamerz™️2026🤦‍♂️

The more interesting of the 2 threads I've been in today A game that doesn't exist unless you're google / poorly researched. Games that probably exist that you cannot play or even conclusively prove exist. A bootleg company that was 100% official. A generic sports game but there's a giant octopus🤔

The internet is wrong about arcade games pt. 8452821 Super cool flyer for World Rally, which the internet attributes to the 1993 Gaelco game of the same name, despite this being a clearly different game, with a vertical monitor which was never released, by Logitec / Logi Tec (Japan, 1983)

Yes, it's very difficult to finish & it's not just a 'I'm not that great at racing games' thing. It's legit hard as balls to do well but it never gets annoying & you keep on coming back💪 And yeah, there's no race queens in the attract but the female adorned advertising of Capital City compensates😍🏁

This week's Arcade Archives release is Ace Driver: Victory Lap, the 1996 follow-up to Ace Driver with the first game's track reappearing alongside two new ones and a stompin' soundtrack! Dreamwidth post! tepidsnake.dreamwidth.org/48223.html

why this game requires secret commands to select the exact tune you want shall forever be a mystery. It's not like every earlier 3D Namco racer with an 11/10 OST didn't just let you do it, even if some of them were a bit stingy in how much time you had to make your choice (looking at you Rave Racer)

maybe Namco didn't want to be associated with lesser cheapo brands like Sega who had been doing that since OutRun🤔 (this is a joke, Sega racing games & OSTs rule. Do not @ me. I love Namco but I'm not a total idiot, merely a partial idiot, & not about arcade games, mostly about longwinded jokes)😉

deep breaths, just post the image several times, this is a funny 'bit' someone is doing, they're not real, those words weren't said, just think about Pooka for a moment until the murderous rage has subsided😉

The arcade-museum lists them as an American company & google AI proudly states the flyer is for a 1993 Gaelco game, as it's an idiot So an interesting part of arcade history, with official ties to huge brands, whose output is barely known of or documented to this day, & most 'known' info is wrong

see those previous 2 pics, yeah, check the alt text as what's listed on the internet as a generic sports game, which may or may not exist, absolutely features you fighting kangaroos & a giant octopus on a beach What do their other games contain? We must know! And yet the internet just lies to us🤔😢

there's no Logitec attributed Galaxian in Mame but there's every chance one or even many of the seemingly unaltered 'bootlegs' in there, are actually legit licensed products Of the 13 video games they were involved with, only 3 are confirmed as dumped. 1 is confirmed to exist. The others, unknown

but World Rally isn't on that list & almost certainly never happened as the company went bankrupt in 1983 with 1.2 billion yen of debt. Tighter gambling regulations hurt them & sales of their own video games seemingly weren't great, which would tie in with their rarity

Logitec (not that one) was a Japanese manufacturer & distributor of amusement machines that was founded in 1976. Their main business was karaoke & poker machines but they got into video games They were 1 of only 5 Japanese brands to officially license Space Invaders & 1 of 12 to license Galaxian

An officially branded Logi Tec Galaxian but there's no mention of them on the title screen. There's every chance they were just making them on behalf of Namco in order to distribute them, so they wouldn't get mixed up with actual bootlegs? If you bought a McDonald's franchise, you'd keep the name

Pic 1: screenshot from the video file I uploaded to youtube Pic 2: screenshot from the video as it appears on youtube, in glorious HD apparently Of all the vids I've ever uploaded I've never seen a quality drop off quite like this. All 3 vids are this bad. Did my graphics escape somewhere?

A top 9 placing (semi-technical), an 11th (technical) & a 15th (high speed) this week. All better than expected tbh & my semi-competent skills getting a semi-competent placing on the semi-technical course feels apt🤔 Awesome game, awesome OST, awesome port

Please continue to support Arcade Archives so that Hamster can afford enough chairs for future streams If Namco decides to send more staff than the absolute bare legal minimum next time, we could be in trouble😉 You love to see it🏁

Remember when Bandai Namco said they weren't going to be participating in Hamster's livestreams a few months ago? Luckily no-one seems to give a shit so there's 8 of the Victory Lap devs + Udetsu appearing this week🏁 Nature is healing etc

Hot take alert:😉 this is the understatement of the century & Dragon Buster would make a top 10 all-timers list for me without breaking a sweat🐲 Unless 'pretty cool' is foreign slang for 'ultimate masterpiece' these days & I'm not down with the kids anymore?🤔

Raiden II, in a way

this week's Console Archives title: Raiden Project (PS; JP version only), Seibu Kaihatsu's Raiden + Raiden II two-pack these were admirable ports for their time, but Hamster's promised authentic Raiden II reissue has been MIA for years and I worry they're offering this as a consolation option...
