While it's sad to see these historic studios shutter, it's important to remember that they've long been Theseus' ships. Many of the old heads have moved on or been pushed out by the time these closures happen, and the institutional knowledge lost. BioWare only had 50 staff left.

Corporate greed has been strip mining the industry, and it was happening long before this storm of closures. Just makes you wonder how long they're gonna be able to get away with it when they keep doing the same trick. Buy studio, milk it for all its worth, then shutter.

Today we made the difficult decision to put down Pumpkin. He'd been declining hard. Kidney failure. It was clear it was his time to go. He seemingly chose me as his vigil, so I made a bed out of my laundry hamper and let him watch the sunset.

It's been a very emotionally taxing week. He'd stopped eating and drinking. Every time I saw him he was a little smaller, a little less there. I must have said goodbye a dozen times and it still wasn't enough. I'll miss you, Pumps ❤️

I don't know who needs to hear this, but long term suppressed depression often manifests itself as rampant, painful nostalgia. I used to get so nostalgic it hurt. I would look at childhood pictures and videos and it would feel like my heart was breaking. I didn't realize that wasn't normal.

I still get nostalgic of course, but since getting treatment it's more of a peaceful feeling. Like I'm happy for the memories, but I don't yearn to be in them anymore.

With that, my journey in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door comes to an end! Enjoyed it front to back just like I did back in 2004. Loved all the changes they made for this remake :>

One thing that sucks about being grown up is being much more acutely aware of when you do something for the last time. Back in 2004, I beat the original and never thought twice about putting it down. Now that I've finished the remake, all I can think about is how it will be the last time I play it.

As a content creator, I used to be terrified of taking breaks. Social media will make you believe that any gap will result in you falling off. I've learned that's not really true. Extended breaks will usually result in a dip in metrics, yes, but they can be gained back very easily. Take breaks!! ^^
