Becoming indie(or starting to succeed) post 2020 feels like having arrived at a party after it ended sometimes

Robert Yang@radiatoryang.bsky.social

anyone else remember jonathan blow randomly doing tai chi in the middle of the park at gdc

one day from a convention and hence I have given up on things like 'clean code' or 'expandable architecture' or 'mod support', and am gamejam-style tossing bullshit into the project. I missed this, its so much more productive than having a godforsaken trello and planning my interconnected systems

This week I massively optimized my ai!! you can now have basically infinite racers on a track with no frame drops. ...They will not race clean yet tho😅 ...Also my audio system cannot handle it yet #screenshotsaturday #gamedev

I am being asked to sponsor a channel that gets 5k views max with 50$, which is supposedly to support developers. Half of being an indie nowadays is avoiding scammy 'partnerships'

light #screenshotsaturday today, here's HRSPWR's garage, featuring your cars' class, power/weight/driveline, and a quirky little description. I went for a prostreet/burnout paradise hybrid but might revamp the UI for this and the car lot entirely tbh it looks a bit amateurish maybe?

I'm making a point of not flying anywhere today. I worry that if my plane were hit or lost power, air traffic control would respond to the pilot's "Mayday! Mayday!" with "Sure is, buddy! Have a good one!"

Another veritable institution comes to a close. The (indie) games industry feels like its having a crisis communitywise, but somehow a golden age of profitabilty and creativity. I just hope our up and coming generation can continue in the steps of the people that got us this far.
