#11- One pan bahn mi style beef tacos. Sadly, this dish didn't satisfy my craving for Mexican OR Vietnamese. The marinated cucumber was pretty much the only flavour here, vinegar.

#10- street cart style chicken bowls. Divided opinion. My son liked it but I am not a fan of chicken thigh meat so I wasn't a fan.

#9- Moo shu pork bowls. Another meh, plus plain rice.

#8 Italian chicken and pepper sandos. This one is a monumental fail. Hard to eat and no flavour at all. No one finished it.

#7- Southwest beef cavatappi. This was a hands down favourite. Just delicious.

#6- smoky brown sugar chicken salad. I have never been a huge fan of kale, but this dish was really excellent. Lots of goodies in the salad, sunflower seeds, apple slices, honey dijon dressing. The roasted carrots were ok but added nothing to the dish.

#5- cherry balsamic chicken with almond couscous and roasted carrots. Winner winner chicken dinner. The couscous was well seasoned and delicious, the chicken was good just wish there had been a bit more of the cherry glaze.

#4_ garlicky shrimp couscous bowls. Another meh. Little flavour and the chili flakes added nothing to the broccoli. The couscous was a bit bland.

#3: soy glazed hoisin meatloaves with green beans and rice. The meatloaf portion was pretty good and so were the green beans with siracha mayo. But the rice needed something.

Dinner # 2: Middle Eastern chickpea bowls- This one was a winner. A meatless option that was very well made and really good, and even came with a free sample of probiotics.

Ever been interested in trying Hello Fresh but weren't sure you wanted to pay the price in case you didn't like it? I am here to help. Dinner number 1: Sesame soy beef bowls. This one was meh, kind of bland. If it had a quality hot sauce it might be improved.

So for the last eight or so years I have been in a red state that voted for Trump, though God knows why. He has done nothing for rural farmers or economy. But I am seeing that things are not much better in California, a blue state. Prosperity has left people uncaring for the poor. cont.

Well friends, I have gotten out of red state Kansas and now happily home in good old California. I may be poor here but at least I am in the company of like minded people, I hope!

This could have been a hard Mother's day, one year since losing my son to fentanyl but my other kids all called and sent gifts and made my day much better than expected.
