@jrradcliffe.bsky.social @cyrthogg.bsky.social This "Barrel Man" was printed in the 1901 Milwaukee Sentinel. It's close to being obscene but after the NLDS you could print it one page 1 just change the other team from Detroit to the Dodgers because, of course, they did hose 'em.

@jrradcliffe.bsky.social I was reading about the 1957 Braves WS victory when I ran across this clip. Back in those days you could decide to go to a Packer game an hour before kickoff and get good seats.
@baseball-reference.com Curious. Looking at the 2026 season hitting grid on 9/23. Why doesn't the #bat column add up to the 1468 total that you show? Whereas the actual total of the column is 1673. See excerpt from an EXCEL spreadsheet below. Same is true for 1953. Is this always the case?
@ken-rosenthal.bsky.social Please note that in the last 30 days that the Brewers have more HRs than the Dodgers, Braves and Phillies.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social @kenrosenthalphoto.bsky.social What is all this talk about the Brewers don't hit enough HR's? In the last 30 days they have hit more HR's than the Braves, Dodgers and Phillies. In fact, of the likely NL playoff teams only the Cubs - who play in a bandbox - have hit more.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social @cyrthogg.bsky.social How do you feel about your predictions now? www.jsonline.com/story/sports...
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social @adammccalvy.bsky.social @cyrthogg.bsky.social Word is that sportswriters will have to wear this outfit to get into the press box. Warning it might highlight pot bellies Please post your photos
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social You nearly gave me a heart attack!! I never expected to see anything about the Dockhounds or Milkmen in the JS. Hopefully you will keep us updated on how Josh Mears does as he chases the HR record. www.jsonline.com/story/sports...
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social JR; Just a small woops on the article on JS regarding tracking the action to the end of the trade deadline. You have it ending Tuesday August 3rd. Actually today is Monday August 3rd. At least you know that somebody is reading your stuff.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social @cyrthogg.bsky.social @adammccalvy.bsky.social FWI. Keith Law slid our guy down a notch. Updated MLB top 70 prospects: Kade Anderson is the new No. 1, Jesús Made at No. 2 www.nytimes.com/athletic/745...
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social Half way thru the season the Brewers have a Pitching staff that is top 2 in all of MLB Lowest ERA 3.35, 2nd Lowest in Hits (556), HR's (72) and Whip (1.166) and most strikeouts (763) and the Offense is 3rd best in Runs Per Game (5.21) Not many would have predicted that
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social If you don't know about Sam Blaskowski watch this short video. This kid from Wisconsin has become a world class sprinter. A nice sports story that has nothing to do with major sports or multi0million dollar contracts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=moQI...
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social JR: Check out the Lake Country Dockhounds. Yesterday they won their 13th straight game. Of course there was no story in the JS. Odd that a local pro Baseball team does something unusual and the leading newspaper doesn't even print a single line of print reporting it.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social @cyrthogg.bsky.social I'll that the Brewers have sold very few (if any) Rengifo shirts. When are they going to bite the bullet and bring up Pratt or simply give somebody else a shot. The bottom of the order is truly the bottom of the barrel.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social Do you think that some of the Brewers reluctance to call one or more of the Minor League hot shots is because of how (and when) the call up will impact their "service Time" and it's eventual impact on free agency as well as pre-arb and arb status?
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social @cyrthogg.bsky.social Baseball has it's problems but look what the English Premier league has to deal with. Football (oops Soccer) is tough.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social So far Tyler Black has only been in the DH spot. However; I thought that he was primarily a 3rd baseman. For sure the Brewers are in the lower echelon of MLB when it comes to offense at 3rd base (and SS as well). Any word on when we'll see young Mr. Black play in the field.
@wxbrendan.bsky.social I am wondering how close we are to a new record amount of rainfall for the month of April. I could be all wet (pun) but I don't remember ever having this much rain half-way through the month of April.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social @adammccalvy.bsky.social @cyrthogg.bsky.social The question of the day for you BB guys. Is the "Miz" going to go down to the Marcus tonight and see the "Wiz"?
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social Nice article about Wisconsinites in the movies but how could you leave out Dennis Morgan in the classic "Christmas in Connecticut" or Pat O'Brien as Knute Rockne. Jack Carson (grew up in Milwaukee) was in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and many others.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social I know that you are a big movie fan. Have you ever seen the old 1953 movie "Crazylegs" which is about ex-UW Football star and later AD Elroy Hirsch; if not I'd recommend it. I recently saw it on TMC and it was better than I expected plus lots of old game footage.
@adammccalvy.bsky.social @jrradcliffe.bsky.social Any news on how the Brewers are doing on signing draft picks? July 28th is right around the corner. BTW. Love Murphy's post game interviews. Finally a manager with a little humor and personality.
@buitengebieden.bsky.social Stumbled across an interesting article about a Cat vs Bald Eagle encounter from the January 20th, 1880 Milwaukee Journal
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social The JS Packer coverage team have split on predicting this weeks game. Two, incl @tspoon62.bsky.social, have picked the Vikings the other two had the good sense to pick the Packers. We need you to break the tie. The Packers or the Vikings? www.jsonline.com/story/sports...
@tspoon62.bsky.social @jrradcliffe.bsky.social Do you have a personal most heartbreaking Packer loss? This is one I'll never forget. Oct 1952 at MU stadium; GB up 28 to 6 over the Rams at the end of the 3rd quarter only to lose 30 to 28. I was 10 yrs old at the time and totally crushed.
@tspoon62.bsky.social @jrradcliffe.bsky.social Recently I've been looking at a lot of Packer history. A fact about the 1944 NFL Champion Packer team that blew me away. The roster size of that team was 28 players. Meanwhile the 2024 Packers have 29 Assistant Coaches. Feels like Overkill city.
@tspoon62.bsky.social @jrradcliffe.bsky.social A little trivia for you. On Dec 17, 1944 (80 years ago) the Packers defeated the NY Giants to win the NFL Championship. That Packer team DID NOT kick any Field Goals that season. They only tried 4, missed them all. Don Hutson was the kicker.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social @cyrthogg.bsky.social Would either of you have any idea of when the new Brewers TV package will be available to purchase? I ask because I would like to give it to my son as a Christmas present. BTW The International article sure gives us something to look forward to.
@jrradcliffe.bsky.social So what is the NBA cup series all about? Are these games where the players have to leave the plastic cups out of their jocks or what?
@cyrthogg.bsky.social @jrradcliffe.bsky.social Great article. I'm really pulling for Gasser to come back strong. He was fantastic before his injury. www.jsonline.com/story/sports...
@cyrthogg.bsky.social @jrradcliffe.bsky.social Quick thanks for the excellent articles on the top 10 prosects. Great to have a little BB talk particularly since this mornings snow makes being in "the hot stove league" official.
@wxbrendan.bsky.social Ok. You can turn off the snow any time now. We live in Summit and have had several inches but the wind has pushed it around and made it much deeper in some areas. I had to snow blow a path down to some trees so our small (16 pound) dog could "do his business"
You are up to date.
