This is a fantastic (dev/technical-focused) video content gig for anyone looking. I can say this confidently because I’ve read @samwho.dev’s technical explainers and they are fantastic. I’ve never met the dude but this is clearly a job where you’ll learn tons and have fun.

Sam Rose@samwho.dev

This position is now up on our Greenhouse: job-boards.greenhouse.io/ngrokinc/job.... We're trying to do something radical, and build out some of the best content in the industry. We're early on that journey and you'll be the 3rd member of the team. There's huge impact potential in this role.

Everyone (not just academics) should read this excellent post by ex-Google AI researcher and current AI prof David Bau.

What should academics be doing right now? I have been writing up some thoughts on what the research says about effective action, and what universities specifically can do. davidbau.github.io/poetsandnurs... It's on GitHub. Suggestions and pull requests welcome. github.com/davidbau/poe...

mulling a "Barbenheimer" two-fer for "Primate: There's Something Wrong With Ben" and "Melania." Could go with "Primate-lania", but I prefer "Primate: There's Something Wrong With Melania."

hello Bluesky friends who look at my posts here! (both of you!) I'm excited to dust off my tourist-grade French in Paris next week at the RAISE Summit, a premier event for technical leaders in AI. 🇫🇷 🇫🇷 🇫🇷 (Message me if you'll also be there and would like to meet up!)

This really is a fantastic, fantastic piece.

This is the best and most important thing I have ever written. Don't miss it. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv... (Which would be plagiarism if I didn't now add: that's a quote from the billionaire Bill Ackman in a tweet he wrote last week about a tweet he wrote last week.)

Keen-eyed observers may notice that the video shows the Squirrel Squirter unleashing its watery fury on Fred the Cat, rather than a squirrel. This is because I've found it tricky to do an on-demand demo with squirrels. So basically just pretend Fred is a squirrel for the purpose of this demo.

The Squirrel Squirter is, objectively speaking, a technological marvel. Allow me to spew some technical details at you: Raspberry Pi 4 + Arducam 3 camera + modified Cyclone Motorized Water Blaster + EfficientDet0 model fine-tuned on pics of squirrels, Fred, and Fred's brother, George

"The Phantom Menace" was good, overall. The flaws are substantial (Jar Jar, the weird vaguely racist voices of the Trade Federation). But the story genuinely builds on the original series and adds some quality characters.
