Matt

Usually, if I post a picture of a night out then it's a gig. But tonight...

As a 13 year old, I walked into Big Tree Records in Huddersfield one Saturday afternoon and they were playing this. I asked what it was and they immediately sold me a copy of it for a fiver* or something. What a tune. #raveyardshift *≈ a million quid in today's money. youtu.be/FqNsdjsqfNM?...

I know this is an obvious one, but I do sometimes worry that there might be someone who hasn't heard this. #raveyardshift youtu.be/iQVv40_9NSo?...

As recommended by @wrongtom.bsky.social on many, many occasions, I've just watched the Cymande film, which is on the iPlayer at the moment. Absolutely essential viewing. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0029l9p

I'll just quickly start the computer up and do a bit of... oh...

These are the gems we're all really searching for at record fairs and in second hand shops. This is magnificent.

Having the CDs out from under the bed is ace. #weekendsingles

Ignore the stickers, these were 50p each. I don't know anything about them, but you'd have bought them as well, right? #weekendsingles

Picked this up at a record fair a number of years ago for a quid. An absolute steal. The sleeve looks like it's been around since 1978 but the record itself is in great condition. A few clicks and pops, but that's what it's all about right?

I'm discussing music elsewhere on Bluesky, but I also want you to know that today I replaced the tap on our kitchen sink which involved taking all sorts apart under the sink and putting it all back together again. It's not leaking or anything. I feel like an actual grown up now.

I bought this when I was 12. I didn't really know what to make of it and so I didn't really spend much time with it. It survived a few culls of the collection and I'm pretty glad about that. What a record.

I haven't listened to this in such a long time but I read the feature in Mojo last night and decided to return to it. Such a good album.

Lots of Del Amitri #weekendsingles here. I'm going to see them again next month so I thought I'd dig these out.

#BandcampFriday Released back in June, Dream States is the sound of a piano dreaming, of synths in REM sleep! An ambient and electronic soundscape across 88 keys! I think its rather lovely. I still have CDs available. Support grass roots artists! audioobscura.bandcamp.com/album/dream-...

I'm sorry, track 3 is called what again?

Yeah. That's properly knackered. Past the point of no return knackered. How has that happened?! It was fine last time I played it.

As is turns out, I'm not. It's knackered. How did that happen? I've tried the old wind and rewind trick. Still not working. All wobbly and no treble. Glad I made an MP3 of the B side when I got it as that's not available anywhere else.

This is the Kit providing the entertainment on #cassunday Really looking forward to their new stuff in the new year

I'd totally forgotten just how gorgeous this @thisisthekit.bsky.social album is.

Sefton Park Palm House, Liverpool, on the way to the pub and on the way home from the pub.

Some more #weekendsingles from the CD shelves

This would have been quite the night.

Baffling artwork, but perfect cooking Sunday dinner music

If I'm posting Massive Attack #weekendsingles then maybe I should post this as well

I thought I should unbox that Bug Powder Dust I posted in my #weekendsingles. That Dust Brothers remix is early Chemical Brothers, and very good it is too.

Some Massive Attack and Bomb the Bass #weekendsingles from the CD shelves

Back to the lovely new CD shelves for some #weekendsingles

Now that the CDs are finally all out from the boxes under the bed, here are a few random CD #weekendsingles

The CDs have lived in boxes under the bed since we moved into this house in 2014. We've now got some office space in the house and I persuaded my good lady that this piece of furniture was a good idea. It's great to have them out again.

I picked this 7" up for a quid along with some other stuff at a local charity shop. The Funk Master, on Master Funk records. This better be funky, or there'll be trouble.

I don't care what you think

Not sure if there's anything happening in Calderstones Park today

An incredible night last night at Quarry (the old Magnet venue) in Liverpool watching a.P.a.T.t. and Zu. Both bands are entirely impossible to categorise. Fully recommended. Take your earplugs.
