Nothing. America elected not just him, but a full cadre of yes-man Republicans that have spent the last 8 years kissing his ring and torpedoing anything he doesn't want done. In the Choose Your Own Adventure of politics, America has chosen the one that ends in a swamp full of maneating alligators.

Wow. Got me right in the heart.

You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it.

Is there any more fitting metaphor for the way this regime works than the fact that lettering that took 30 minutes to install with a cherry picker took 16 hours, breezing past a court deadline, under cover of darkness and behind a giant scaffolding and tarp only put up so the public can't see it?

nbcnews.comKennedy Center official tells judge Trump’s name has been removed from building and websiteA federal judge ruled that President Donald Trump’s handpicked board at the Kennedy Center did not have the authority to rename the venue.

Yes, vote to end FISA. But don't think for one minute that this administration is going to stop doing it, just because it happens to be illegal. When has illegality stopped them from doing things before?

ACLU@aclu.org

If members of Congress truly want to push back on President Trump's abuse of power, they must vote no on reauthorizing the mass surveillance program his administration is using to spy on Americans without a warrant. Reauthorizing Section 702 of FISA would be a disaster for our privacy rights.

But Biden was just weaponizing the justice system when he went after Binance founder Changpeng Zhao for this exact same thing. So it must be perfectly okay. Right?

Elizabeth Warren@warren.senate.gov

It’s already too easy for our adversaries to exploit crypto to move billions. We should be strengthening standards, not creating new gaps our adversaries can exploit. The Clarity Act should not pass as written.

And anyone who believes that anything less than 95% of this money is going to end up in the pockets of Tr*mp himself is kidding themselves.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

This is insane. The terms of DOJ's slush fund appear to transfer control of $1.8 billion beyond US government entirely. Unless I'm misreading this, that would circumvent Congress *entirely* and put the money outside of *any* constitutional and/or legal constraints ofany kind. Straight up theft.

Criminals are in charge of the justice system and chief lawmaking body of the richest country on earth. There's simpky no analogy strong enough to illustrate this level of lunacy. It's not inmates running an asylum. It's criminals in charge of law!

Mike Levin@mikelevin.org

Trump’s sons signed a weapons deal with the Air Force during a war Congress never authorized. Amazon paid $40 million for a Melania documentary, then won a $581 million no-bid Pentagon contract. The corruption is not hidden anymore. It is the business model. November cannot come fast enough.

This is my problem too. Sure, it'd be gratifying to see them be more responsible with their votes going forward. But it's like they committed a violent assault and are only now realizing that was a mistake. Good, I guess, but the damage isn't going away just because you feel bad about it.

Why wait until November 2028 for this in America? This can happen before the end of THIS YEAR, if we can get "red state" voters to finally admit to themselves that Tr*mp needs to go, and the only way to do it is elect Democratic senators to convict him on the impeachment that is surely on its way.

Hungarians celebrated the landslide defeat of Orban by singing "We Are the Champions" out in the streets

Just imagine how destructive this regime would be if they weren't so goddamn stupid and utterly incompetent.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "We have a thing called a war, or as they would rather say, a military operation. It's for legal reasons. Because as a military operation, I don't need any approvals. As a war you're supposed to get approval from Congress. Something like that. So I call it a military operation."

Murphy: I have great sympathy for our soldiers and our military leaders they are being given directions by a senile old man who is losing his mind. And so it's no surprise that this war is going horribly

The reason is simple. They need white supremacists on their side when the sh*t inevitably hits the fan. All the dog whistling and explicitly racist outreach is designed to insulate them behind a shield of proud boys and militia when the people finally get their act together and go after them.

Pete Buttigieg@petebuttigieg.bsky.social

Ask yourself: why would this administration want to delete references to Medgar Evers’ racist assassin being a racist? Why might that be? I challenge anyone in this administration or Congress to defend this.

To all of you saying he can't or it's never happened before, HE DOESN'T CARE AND WILL DO IT ANYWAY, AND NEITHER CONGRESS NOR SCOTUS WILL STOP HIM. The cognitive dissonance required to believe that elections are the one line in the sand he won't cross is absolutely unreal.
