backseatmafia.comNews: After decades of singles, The Cat’s Miaow will finally be heard in full with their debut album ‘When You Smiled And Turned Away’ due in October, with title track out now.Thirty-plus years, a handful of gigs, a stack of 4-track cassettes and 7"s scattered across compilations — and only now, with 'When You Smiled And Turned Away', do The Cat's Miaow get around to a debut studio album. It's a delightfully absurd piece of timing for a band this good, and also entirely fitting: proof, if any more were needed, that creativity does not have a use-by date. The title track, out now, does what The Cat's Miaow have always done best: it takes something small — the first spark of noticing someone, the moment before anything is said — and holds it up to the light without over-explaining it.
