Interestingly there are many times that my entire being finds it difficult to make #senryu and/or #tanka... I think, when I can't do either i'll settle for writing a #sanka, a Takuboku-styled verse that is a mesh of #tanka and #senryu

Wondering what Louisiana would be like if it remained a French or Spanish territory. Wondering what Texas would be like if it had remained a Spanish possession. Spain had it for 302 yrs. Mexico had Texas for 15 yrs before it became a Republic.

In 1811 Henri Christophe, President of the State of Haiti which occupies the northern part of the country then proclaims himself King Henry I, becoming the second monarch of Haiti (after Jean-Jacques Dessalines, who was Emperor Jacques I).

Some of his notable titles were: • Duc de Marmalade: Named after the northern town and plantation of Marmalade. • Duc de Limonade: Named after the northern town and plantation of Limonade. • Duc de Morin: Held by Joseph Rouanez, an early chancellor of the kingdom. ...

When I was younger, I found myself deeply intrigued with Monarchies and the Aristocracy. Many times I remember fantasizing I was the son of an aristocrat—a Duke or Count, Marquis or Baron. I was especially charmed by the French Monarchy/Aristocracy.

History says that King Henri Christophe did pattern his hereditary nobility after that of European monarchies in 1811. Most of them were titles based on large sugar cane plantations and geographical sites. I am certain that this reflects the effects of Colonization.

Haiti under the rule of King Henri Christophe created an aristocratic nobility that had interesting titles. These titles and hierarchy would be expanded under the rule of Emperor Faustin I. The way Haiti thrived as an all Black empire was positively amazing! Félisitasyon Ayiti! (Congrats Haiti)
