Orchids

I took some time off again. Here’s a real beauty to make up for the slack. I got this last year but it’s more beautiful to me because I flowered it this time 😁 Rhyncholaeliocattleya Memoria General Judy Plunkett ‘M07012024’ #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Here’s another miniature Dendrobium orchid with its flower and buds Dendrobium cuthbertsonii var. agathodaemonis #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Few days ago this was a tight cluster of flower buds looking like a pine cone Dendrobium amabile #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Since yesterday, the 2nd bud opened on this orchid plant Rhyncholaeliocattleya Hawaiian Humor var. alba #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

This looks quite nice IRL Rhyncholaeliocattleya Hawaiian Humor var. alba #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

This orchid spike ended up with a total of 7 flowers of which 2 have faded after just a week. I forgot to water it and it was really hot in my house Laelianthe Wrigleyi var. coerulea #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Here’s an updated pic of this orchid that has been in flower for almost 2 weeks Miltonia spectabilis var. moreliana ’Newberry’ AM/SOS #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Last time this orchid flowered was in the winter months of 2024/25. It was growing indoors so that may have thrown off its flowering cues Phragmipedium Acker’s Berry #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I think there are 7 or 8 flower buds on this miniature orchid. And the flowers last for months Dendrobium cuthbertsonii #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

This is another rescue orchid. Flowers had asymmetrical patterns when I first got it but it flowered more symmetrical this time Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

When I grew these Dendrobium orchids indoors, they flowered sparingly. Growing them outdoors seems to be more to their liking. Dendrobium cuthbertsonii #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

It looks like there are few more buds to open Laelianthe Wrigleyi var. coerulea #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I am back from vacation and this was waiting for me Miltonia spectabilis var. moreliana ’Newberry’ AM/SOS #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I am on vacation so I am taking time off from social media 😁 #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Well I finally couldn’t resist an orchid at the grocery store. The spots got to me Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I was so tempted to buy this orchid Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Definitely the flower is crooked as shown in this updated pic, but it’s a fairly large Cattleya flower for a compact plant Cattleya Rose Pixie ‘Pinafore’ HCC/AOS #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

The combination of green, purple, and white looks quite nice Zygopetalum hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

It’s another orchid at TJ’s. I wish they also sold some Paphiopedilum and Cattleya orchids, but maybe that’s asking for too much from a grocery store 😝 Oncidium hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I was excited to see this flower but unfortunately the flower opened a little wonky 😑. The flower is large for a compact Cattleya hybrid with C. coccinea as one of the parents Cattleya Rose Pixie ‘Pinafore’ HCC/AOS #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I’ve been so busy last few days I didn’t get around to posting 😅 Oncidium hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Here’s another florist orchid that I rescued Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I’ve been growing my Phals outdoors this year. So much easier to water and fertilize Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I’ve seen this orchid at TJ’s before so this is probably a cloned variety of Zygos. It looks like an alien face to me 🤣 Zygopetalum hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Here’s another orchid at TJ’s. Oncidium hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

If I buy a Zygopetalum, it might be something like this at TJ’s Zygopetalum hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I am happy to see this rescue orchid flowering again Phalaenopsis hybrid (NoID - maybe Fuller’s Black Leopard?) ‘Anne’s Resilience’ #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

The 3rd spike on this orchid is starting to flower. In total this paph may have 20 or 21 flowers Paphiopedilum Temptation (kolopakingii × philippinense) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

This florist orchid unfortunately had to endure cold temperatures down to 45 deg F over the winter. Fortunately it didn’t die and is flowering Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Another orchid at the store that I admired Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography #macrophotopraphy 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I keep resisting buying Phalaenopsis orchids thinking I’ll find one more spectacular Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography #macrophotopraphy 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I am too lazy to stake my flower spikes but I don’t mind how the arching spikes look. But this orchid has a branching habit which probably would look better upright if it had more branches Phalaenopsis Liu’s Cute Angel ‘KF#3’ #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I could not resist getting this at TJ’s yesterday. It’s quite compact which I like very much Oncidium hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography #macrophotopraphy 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I was at TJ’s again today 🤣 Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography #macrophotopraphy 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I noticed that this orchid had one small spike sort of out of season I think Dendrobium Johnson’s Glory ‘Dark Joy’ #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography #macrophotopraphy 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Here are the developing buds of this cuthbertsonii orchid. I love how the flowers on this orchid species is larger than the plant Dendrobium cuthbertsonii #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography #macrophotopraphy 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Here’s a shot of some of my cuthbertsonii orchids outdoors. There are some new flower buds forming in the background. This is where I also grow my Masdevallia orchids Dendrobium cuthbertsonii #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography #macrophotopraphy 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

This is one of the last flowers of this orchid species from the three plants that recently flowered Prosthechea mariae #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography #macrophotopraphy 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

Here’s another orchid that I would liked to have possibly bought 😅 Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I used to have Miltoniopsis orchids, but somehow I killed them all after flowering them quite successfully. Now I am reluctant to get any more Miltoniopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky

I always find these veining pattern on Phalaenopsis orchids attractive Phalaenopsis hybrid (noID) #orchid #flowers #gardening #nature #bloomscrolling #photography 📷🌱🌴🪴sky
