one thing i really hate is a spinning steadicam shot meant to communicate that a character is disoriented or overwhelmed, bc its one of those gimmicky techniques ppl learn from youtube videos. i cant respect that. at least pretend you went to school

qui-gon jin: some say that diet coke is for girls, and coke zero is for boys obi-wan: master yoda qui-gon jin: right. but to me the taste of diet coke is superior. it's... subtler obi-wan: i agree

thought i got on the wrong train so i got off at the next station only to discover id been on the right train the whole time #็„กๅธธ

finished Z.A.T.O and it was not very good. a lot of visual novelists seem to believe that stylish visuals and juvenile philosophizing can save an uninteresting plot, or worse they dont consider that "plot" is something other than "scenario + grand ideas" at all

visual novel writer describing eating breakfast: breakfast... just an ordinary meal. some say it's the most important meal of the day. the most important meal of the day... im not sure if i believe that. or... no... im not sure i dont believe it either. breakfast... important... these words turn ove

this is a problem a lot of student films have too. people underestimate how hard it is to write a story that holds your attention, nor do they seem to understand that "big ideas" are undermined when the narrative theyre ostensibly a part of fails to convey them

According to Stephen Prince, the film's narrative creates a false reality via images and technologies

started playing queen of treasure isle today. like it a lot but im so bad at video games eventually i couldnt even watch myself do it. had to put the controller down and walk way

dont really understand arguments about "mentally gifted" programs bc in my experience what you do in an MG class is play with lego mindstorms kits for 50 minutes once a week

He tells me that there is no doubt but that all my slyme do come away in my water, and therefore no fear of the stone; but that my water being so slymy is a good sign.

honestly the crime rate has gotten low enough that amerika could probably stand to be importing *more* drug traffickers/criminal masterminds

quantsoc ppl handing over peer review/their careers to LLMs makes sense, but unfortunately it'll have knock on effects for us qualitative peons *cut to me in 3 years prostrating myself in front of my gpt8 grant committee while they examine 2 buttons in their environment labelled "thrill" and "kill"*

maybe pessimistic but i suspect now that LLMs can write basically hallucination free text, the main problems with the works theyre used to produce (esp in quant heavy fields) will be on a rhetorical and stylistic level. IOW exactly the same weaknesses as human produced text.

so rather than fix systems that rely on human writing that everyone already agree are broken (like peer review), ppl will just swap a human for an llm and call it a day

trying to find special transgender underwear. idk what they call "tucking" in nihongo. googling the relevant phrase in english returns results for a "japanese technique" where u pull ur weiner all the way back over ur balls
