Use the @organicmaps.bsky.social app! I only discovered this app that uses Open Street Maps data a little while before my trip and if only I had found it one month before! It is easy to use and makes saving locations easy and private from Google. I am sending a donation as soon as I get back home.

I've downloaded @organicmaps.bsky.social onto my phone(s) for the vacation trip and haven't regretted it since! (yet? 😀) It has helped fix nav. mistakes by the car's onboard navi. I'll have to update some OSM data, though, once I'm back home.

Google Maps needs a signal and your location history. Organic Maps needs neither. Free, open-source, offline trail maps for hikers and cyclists, turn-by-turn navigation, no tracking. @organicmaps.bsky.social openalternative.co/organic-maps

It is feasible to provide a better open-source, privacy-focused alternative to Google Maps if we receive enough donations and community support. This is one of our goals, alongside helping users understand and contribute to OpenStreetMap for everyone’s benefit. www.makeuseof.com/wanted-to-lo...
