The Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence (O.J.A.I.) was founded in 2015 by Chris Dreier and Gary Farrelly. ‘Operational Overview’, (2026) is a large-scale wall map produced in collaboration with Alexander Pfeiffenberger. Here, the Mid-West is cast as the centre of the world.

Thanks to Declan Long for his insightful review of ‘Memory of a Free Festival’ in the September 2026 issue of ArtReview. Long writes “These anti-nuclear protest gatherings in the late 1970s – and their atmosphere of optimism born of convivial en masse comradeship – have a lot to teach us today.”

Reminder! There is two weeks left to submit to 'The Limerick Show'. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, 23 September at 6pm. Images by Jed Niezgoda.

Born in 1950 and raised in Dublin, Michael Ashur commenced his studies at NCAD in the late 1960s. The visual novelty of Ashur’s paintings and their capacity to capture the eye and imagination were central to his success from the mid-1970s.

It’s been just over two weeks since we celebrated Ormston House turning 15. Special thanks to Féile na Gréine for helping us celebrate. We would like to express our gratitude to the performers Dylan Kerr & Weston Olencki, Linda Buckley, and Neil Ó Lochlainn’s Tlú Lín.

Reminder! Join us this Saturday, 5 September from 4-5pm to mark the closing of ‘Energy Made Visible’ where Jürgen Simpson and Neil O’Connor will respond to this exhibition with a live performance. Admission is free and booking is not necessary. Image courtesy of Jürgen Simpson and Neil O’Connor.

Thaís Muniz is an interdisciplinary artist and designer interested in the Afro-diasporic connections, identity, belonging and migration. For ‘Energy Made Visible’ Muníz’s has produced a series of geometric diagrams forged in iron.

While outer space has come to be regarded through the lens of science, it was traditionally viewed as the domain of the divine and ‘the heavens’. Muníz’s forms echo the hard-edged shapes seen in Michael Ashur’s paintings but also possess a ritualistic function. Images by Kate Bowe-O'Brien.

Join us on Saturday, 5 September for a special closing event for ‘Energy Made Visible’ from 4-5pm. Admission is free and no ticket is required. Jürgen Simpson and Neil O’Connor will respond to this exhibition with a live performance, using custom sequencing systems and modular synthesis.

Two weeks remain to see 'Energy Made Visible'. We would like to thank everyone who has come to see the exhibition so far. The exhibition is open Wednesday to Saturday, 12-6pm, until 5 September, 2026. Images by Kate Bowe-O'Brien.

‘Energy Made Visible’ is a group exhibition centred around the paintings of Michael Ashur (1950–2024). For this exhibition Sean Lynch has produced a pamphlet featuring reproductions of material from the Michael Ashur Artist File, found at the National Irish Visual Arts Library, N.C.A.D, Dublin.

Exhibition invites, catalogue entries and newspaper clippings from the 1980s and early 90s offer glimpses into an Irish art world that has all but vanished. Lynch’s accompanying essay reflects upon how Ashur’s initial success was intertwined with a modernising Ireland. Images by Kate Bowe-O'Brien.

Ormston House is 15! On 16 August 2011, Ormston House launched its very first exhibition. Since then we have developed and delivered 125 exhibitions and projects, both on and off-site. We have produced over 520 multi-disciplinary events and collaborated with over 500 artists and practitioners.

We thank all staff and volunteers past and present and all of the artists and contributors that have worked with us. Sincere gratitude also goes to all of our partners and funders, and to everyone who has shown support over the past 15 years. #OrmstonHouseAt15

Ann Maria Healy works with video, sculptural and textual form. With their luminous hues, subtly blended effects, and angular compositions, Michael Ashur’s paintings are the natural counterpart to Healy’s animation entitled ‘Gabhlán Gaoithe-Dara Sraith (Swift - Second Series)’.

The landscape in Healy’s animation evokes the boundless vistas of Ashur’s paintings but is, in fact, the artist's representation of the mechanics of the human brain. Images by Kate Bowe-O'Brien. ‘Energy Made Visible’ will run until 5 September, 2026.

‘Energy Made Visible’ is a group exhibition centred around the paintings of Michael Ashur. Garrett Phelan has ‘translated’ a 1988 painting by Ashur into sound. Using image sonification technology, ‘Fragment of Orion’ has been converted into a soundscape, then pressed into a transparent vinyl record.

Reminder! On Saturday, 8 August from 2-4pm ‘Memory of a Free Festival’ will open at Wexford Arts Centre. Admission is free and all are welcome. ‘Memory of a Free Festival’ is a touring exhibition and event programme presented by Ormston House.
