Enbridge's incidents across the Great Lakes aren't just accidents—they echo a resounding negligence and highlight the fragility of current regulations. We need change more than ever from our leaders to hold these fossil fuel polluters accountable. #ShutDownLine5

After a 1.3 million natural gas leak on Line 5 in Wisconsin, Enbridge went ahead and created a bypass without state authorization. That's not okay - that's why we need Gov. Evers and his administration to protect the Great Lakes, not corporate polluters. #ShutDownLine5

Enbridge failed to get the state's top court to grant them a rehearing - and that's something to celebrate this morning. 🎉 The work to #ShutDownLine5 continues.

Enbridge is temporarily pausing construction on the Line 5 reroute in Northern Wisconsin after a 1.3 million gallon leak of natural gas liquids. While state regulators stopped short of any enforcement actions, the alarm bells are sure going off. #ShutDownLine5

The Line 5 reroute project has been a mess. At least four releases of drilling fluid, issues of noncompliance, and now a gas leak, prompting Wisconsin officials to order Enbridge stop work on the project.

Gov. Whitmer’s own administration has taken that word seriously enough to approve permits for a billion-dollar tunnel project, even as the Michigan Supreme Court has now vacated the Public Service Commission’s approval and sent it back for review.

Enbridge’s pattern is now undeniable. They announce a project as safe, break ground, spill, apologize, and keep going, all while defying Tribal sovereignty. Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s administration in Michigan should stop taking the company’s word and assurances at face value.

For years, Enbridge has told Michigan regulators and the public what it wanted them to hear: that Line 5 is safe, that spills are rare, that the company has learned from its mistakes.

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Secretary Karen Hyun was right to demand Enbridge halt construction of its Line 5 pipeline reroute and answer more than 20 outstanding questions regarding Tuesday’s leak of natural gas liquids before resuming work.

Michigan officials should be watching this closely and asking why we would trust the same company, with the same track record, to bore a tunnel through the Straits of Mackinac, one of the most sensitive freshwater ecosystems on Earth

Read this new piece on why the Line 5 tunnel isn't built "by now." We're curious what the comments section thinks caused the delay. (We already know who it wasn't.) If you’re going to reply with “BUILD” in the comments, we know you didn’t read it. #ShutDownLine5

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officially issued its permit for the Line 5 oil tunnel. But with the recent Michigan Supreme Court ruling that puts the State of Michigan's permits in question, one thing is certain: the fight ain't over yet. www.oilandwaterdontmix.org/owdm_respons...

🎉 THE GREAT LAKES WON TODAY. MISC just vacated the permit for Enbridge's Line 5 oil tunnel — 6 to 1. The oil tunnel has no state siting approval, which is required under federal law. This victory belongs to the Tribes who never stopped fighting: They led. The Court listened. #ShutDownLine5
