Sadly, Team UK won't be progressing to the Quarter Finals of the European Team Carcassonne Online Championship 2026 as we finish 3rd in our group. I am, however, pleased with my contributions; being picked for three matches and securing two 2-0 victories, including over a Master rated player.

Still very much a new face to the international Carcassonne community, but troubling (and occasionally beating) International Team Captains and Master rated players is certainly one way to make my mark on the international scene! Hopefully one day I can reach Master rated myself! We will see!

Went clapper bridge spotting in Malham yesterday and had a very lovely time of it. It's easily one of my favourite historic bridge types, with the (I think 17th C.) example in front of Malham Cove being a truly delightful example of the genre

Stumbled upon a holloway with a probable stone flagged path (maybe Cart track?) whilst on a lunchtime walk and was amazed to discover it isn't on the HER despite how clear the remains are! (I have emailed the relevant peope). It's things like this that I really love about archaeology.

Also just to put a bit more perspective on this - Up until 2023 Finland was still chemically castrating trans people - Finland now rank almost 70% above the UK on ILGA-Europe's trans rights index. This places the UK in the same sphere as places like Russia and Hungary.
