I found my word: Schadenfreude. I was thinking about the comment that people share in the internet about AI and unemployment. Those people are just making an assessment and sharing their dream/nightmare for the future. But, I think they feel pleasure for the people whose jobs are under threat.

I was distant to foldable iPhone before the Apple event, but the new released iPhone Duo changed my thoughts a little bit. I’m still distant to foldable smartphone idea regardless of the brand, but I appreciated Apple for their engineering, design, and detail-oriented work.

One of my concerns was trace on foldable screen, but it seems they solved it. Also, the camera shooting details are really cool. One more thing about transition animation. It looks really cool and high standard. Definitely, it’s expensive but I’ll try it in the Apple Store.

There are many new mechanics and some of them are from RDR2 which is one of my favorite video game. Also, armed conflict look very realistic. Another detail is that Rockstar added new in-game contents like heavy lifting or racing. The open-world looks vibrant.

The only thing that makes me think is Jason looks a dull and flat character. But, we should see him in the game. Maybe he’ll give us much different vibe in the game. Also, I’m curious whether we’ll able to have old Vice City and its iconic places like hotel, Malibu or multi-story car park. I hope 🤞

I don’t understand why the people are exciting about the AGI. If their expectations will happen, they’ll loose their jobs and maybe everything. It’s ridiculous. I don’t see any meaningful motivation under AGI expectations.

Probably they’re assuming that technology brings the better life but if you can reach that life. If you don’t earn enough money to buy new tech products, it doesn’t mean to you. I think AGI fans are very optimistic.

I just coincidenced Code Wiki tool from Google. It seems they announced last fall, but I figured out its existing today :) I think it’s a nice and useful tool but it should be improved. I tried Go repo initially and I got the docs immediately. Then, I tried for Postgres, but it didn’t work.

Also, it can be a great tool for the peple who are curious about the internals of the systems like programming languages, databases, tools, etc. I think we can dig into codebases easier than before.

Definitely, it should support more repositories. Also, as I see, it may not be up to date. For example, Go’s latest commit was from 2 months ago. I expect to get latest documentation. One of the biggest benefits can be involving the open source projects easily.

In some Go services, Google’s Wire dependency injection pkg was used. Last year, the team archived the project. Now, the services are tightly dependent on this pkg. Removing dependency means rewriting the almost whole project. I don’t see meaningful reasons to use this kind of DI packages.

I think it adds unnecessary dependency. Probably this kind of tools are developing to adjust newcomers, especially from the Spring/.Net world. But, again, I don’t see meaningful benefits to use this kind of tools.

I think the questioning people are rare but they are valuable. I see that the people in tech are eager to accept and follow AI firms without considering the possible bad results, not only about tech industry and jobs, also the effects in society.

I just watched Apple’s WWDC event. I really found many use cases that can touch and improve people’s lives with AI at the first time. I haven’t seen these kind of useful features before for any companies. This is the first time I’ve been excited about the features that includes AI.

I think, coding is one of the most important skill that we have as a software engineer. We shouldn’t give up this skill easily. I don’t understand why the people eager to give up this skill, but it should be preserved.

I don't think that there is no job or industry that the people are eager to give up their special and important skills other than software engineers.

#OpenTelemetry is a #CNCF graduated project From OpenCensus and OpenTracing to today, this project has been a community effort from the start. Thank you to everyone who contributed code, docs, specs, reviews, feedback, and end-user experiences. This milestone belongs to you. buff.ly/SSE3ct3

I watched some booed videos from different university graduation ceremonies. As I see, one of the biggest problem is the rich people, especially the people selling AI tools, don’t understand the people’s feelings. They underestimate the circumstances if their predictions come true.

They are expecting from people to clap and support their predictions while they are also creating fear about the people’s life and future. They are claiming that the people will be replaced by AI and robots in their job, but they are not sharing any solution to fix that problem.

Their biggest, maybe the single solution is giving UBI to people. However, when you ask them how the money will be generated or collected, they don’t give satisfactory answer. That’s why the people, especially the AI-addicted ones, should think and consider these parts of the AI.

I’ve been seeing this kind of orders from AI lovers to AI tools to put them in a shape to avoid some damage. I have never tried in deep but I don’t think it would be useful. The same guys are complaining about the context window or hallucinations whereas they’re claiming they created personas.

Somehow this is a year old despite it being something I should have been sent 2000 times. I’m going to start using the phrase “brain-only” a lot in various bits

An important and good article about the labor, layoffs, and AI. Some people are creating fear about replacing by AI constantly. As far as I see, they are mixing their opinions and predictions with reality. They're sharing some misinformation as if it happened. fortune.com/2026/04/28/n...

I wonder how the people and companies will respond when the day came out. Probably the companies will limit the usages because of the tool prices. They will start expect to use ‘efficiently’ from the employees. The things can be vice versa.

Gergely Orosz@gergely.pragmaticengineer.com

There is massive irony in how AI coding tools are starting to become TOO expensive for many enterprises - after eg Anthropic removed subsidizing AI subscriptions. We might go from "everyone use AI for everything!" to "you have $300/month AI budget; use your brain for the rest."
