Listening to my wife complain to the elder daughter about our common work-imposed software suite. It’s clear enough that Copilot is the new Clippy. The world is not better off for this. Me? I’ve managed to put some research in and detach myself once more from Microsoft as far as possible.

Zero. King’s College London, Westcott House Cambridge.

A question for every commentator on race at Cambridge or UK higher education How many of you university lecturers in the UK were Black? I'll start: zero

I’ve been taken to a well known American craft store (which I won’t name because apparently they worship the Bad Jesus), and here is a rack of tribble carcasses.

I have a little ritual that evolved a while back, before I even realized it. Every time I land in the States, first thing I do, without fail, is go to the airport lounge and get me a nice big glass of unsweetened iced tea. Because I am a southern man. I don’t even drink iced tea at home. And yet …

Trump al enterarse que Pedro hizo que todos los marroquíes regresaran a su país sin matar ni herir a ninguno de ellos.

Thing is: I don’t ask for much. So when I cook some fancy farm-fresh bacon that my wife bought for me last week at the Royal Welsh and it fries up and tastes just like american bacon does, I can’t help but think the Bouncing Baby Jesus was smiling on me tonight.

Los únicos incendios no causados por el hombre son los incendios causados por un rayo durante una tormenta eléctrica o por la erupción de un volcan.

Honestly? I’m going with Bobcat Goldthwaite. Y’all enjoy …

You suddenly get a narrator describing your life and there’s no way to turn it off - everyone can hear it. While shopping, at work, at home, with friends - the voice narrating your every move goes on. Who do you hope is the voice of this narrator?

I know it’s going on 5 or 6 years, now, but every once in a while I think to myself myself that there’s no justice in a world where John Prine dies of covid and Donald Trump doesn’t. Then my mind wanders to the chorus of Aaron Watson’s version of “Farther Along”, & I hum it to myself & trail off …

I turned up to church today to find that a new-to-me congregation had bought me my own coffee mug. Sometimes it’s the little things that make this job totally worth it. 🙂 ⚓️

I’ve figured something out. Penny drop. Brits: y’all know how confused and upset y’all feel when some American mentions a peanut butter & jam sandwich? I feel exactly the same way about tuna, baked beans, and/or sweetcorn in any combination on a baked potato.

Listening to news, and thinking to myself that Trump has actually missed a trick with this UFC cage fight business on the White House lawn. I mean ... where's the love for Monster Trucks?

Broke the cardinal rule of preaching. Preached on the meaning of the original Hebrew word hesed/heseth. Described it off the cuff as "bloody-minded love". I personally think that was a moment of the Holy Spirit's inspiration. ⚓️

Sweet Bouncing Baby Beezus. Thanks to eldest daughter, I just discovered this exists. Peach. Sugar free. Pumped full of caffeine. What could be more perfect on a bank holiday Monday? I am sooooo there for this.

Why does every single Reform UK guy that they trot out on television always look exactly like that jerk who tailgates me in his Audi because he wants to go 100 mph on the A449?

As I was clearing away the sacrament at the end of mass today, for no obvious reason it occurred to me that Donald Trump is the kind of guy who would celebrate communion with pork rinds and Old Milwaukee. No idea why the Holy Spirit gave me that. But I just put this out there.

Once every quarter, I play host at an open community church event to which our local high-profile Reform UK candidate invariably turns up. I’m trying to think of something clever to say here, but honestly what do you do with someone whose campaign takes issue with the simple fact that you exist?

I’m in the little book shop of the Catholic cathedral in Birmingham. Lovely little shop. Packs a good punch with its book selection. But there is not a single glow-in-the-dark item to be found anywhere. There should be glow-in-the-dark stuff. ⚓️

I wonder what Reform UK think they have to gain by sending one of their vile, fascist campaign leaflets to my dead son? Thank god I’m battle-hardened. I’ve had parishioners whom this would simply break. No other party has made this mistake. #senedd2026 #seneddelections #ReformUK #ReformWales

Currently at this in Cardiff. Intermission. It’s good. Fans of the film, come see it. Haven’t seen the film? See it. Every time I do, I think, “This is the one where I don’t cry at the end.” And I do every time. There is power in a union.

I’ve had the best Holy Week that I’ve had in years. Engaged congregations. I used southern country gospel music all the way through (and they really got it). Joyful sunrise vigil with the whole clergy team. … and now it’s Easter Boxing Day, and I am doing not one dang thing. Perfect. ⚓️

So. This is an actual in-use, going-concern paschal candle in one of our churches in the ministry area. They’re getting a new one this year, by God, whether they like it or not. ⚓️
