You know what i love? Casually reading the ingredients of a trusted brand's ingredients list, after opening a new package and chowing down on the contents, to find that they now have a new wheat ingredient. But haven't updated any of the rest of the still-marked-gluten-free packaging

Watching it, I realize I do not actually remember having seen the original movie that inspired her first and second nicknames (alien and facehugger). I've definitely seen later films in the series.

This pizza Friday features pizza with homemade mozzarella! We got a LOT of milk with the summer food pickup and i was able to use a good portion to make cheese because my kids don't drink plain milk.

You know, as a celiac, i love that there are so many gf cracker options. But right now, i really need a cheap, bland, lasts_forever kind of cracker that I could be able to grab and distribute when something we have consumed as a family is inagreeable with digestion.

We can take this tree out of a recent removal quote. While it did deal us some damage, it could have been so much more devastating had it gone even a little differently. Bonus- the play set may still be usable?

I did lose a few self watering planters and my fancy watering can in this. But it could have taken out the kitchen, or the tractor, or gone into the garage (as I was standing there), and all of that would have been terrible.

But also thankfully, we had the tractor out (instead of in the garage), because it was key in getting parts cleaned up enough to get anything out of the garage

I'm so excited. Tonight's main is a veggie fry up, where the food is mostly from our street. I grew the sweet potatoes, onion, herbs, and some of the peppers. Neighbors grew the squashes. I made the ricotta (this morning!) that's a heavy component of the sauce.

Friday night pizza on Saturday. I didn't inventory or do my usual Friday morning shopping, so it was a surprise to find out we were out of both tomato products and mozzarella cheese. Made bbq chicken pizza, plus a frozen pepperoni for the kid in a "no bbq sauce" phase. Picking battles and leftovers.

Friday night pizza: odds and ends of salami, mushrooms, jalapenos, and red peppers. Different crust than usual: this one uses teff instead of quinoa.

As kid's activities are winding down for the school year, we've been missing Friday night pizza. Did a quick pizza with pre-made gf crust and .. it was ok. Unlikely to do that again, even in a pinch.

I did like how fast the dinner came together, though. Thinking that one day that i have motivation, I'll make and par-bake a bunch of gf crusts and put them in the freezer.

Attempted hot cross buns this weekend, a suggestion from a friend coming to Easter lunch. They at least look nice! (I've never had them before, these are gluten free.)

My mother would like me to start filming the food that I make (that my family eats). She thinks it's fascinating to watch me cook and incorporate the little weird things that I grow in my gardens. Plus all the gf pizzas. Is this an interesting thing?

To note: I incorporate a lot more grown food now, since I was laid off from my software engineering job in August. (And i include food that folks might call "foraged," but we grow it on purpose. )

Pizza Friday! Guest this weekend, so one base of herbed olive oil instead of red sauce. Also tried out a pizza steel in place of the stone. It's so good, y'all.
