I think of the Übermensch not in the kind of Ayn Randian way but more in the Thus Spoke Zarathustra kind of way where it is a love affair with life and wisdom…that allows #Nietzsche's Zarathustra to say, give me a free death…I can say yes when death comes…because I've had this love affair.

I have lived life in such a way that I am not afraid to die, that I can be put up on that cross. I can drink that hemlock. I can shut myself in my room after my family has been…cast out or whatever it might be…You can't learn that from a politician.

You can't learn that from a teacher who has the PowerPoints and the elbow patches and does it the “right” way. You need these figures who are willing to saturate themselves with life even at the moment of death…

Danny Layne is joined by friends Gareth Polmeer and Rob Gray in a conversation rooted in a quote from #Ezekiel. The #Bible, #Julian of Norwich, and Henry #Corbin emerge prominently and intriguingly in this discussion about the intersection of Platonic #philosophy & #spirituality.

Platonism has never been a philosophy of subjects and objects, never been a philosophy where we have to GET to the forms. We are in a radical connectivity, a radical participation. It's a matter of whether or not we can ATTUNE ourselves to them.

And what we need to do is get to the real and find some sort of methodology that gets us to the real objects, the real world. And one of the things that Sebastian said is something that I have always loved about Neoplatonism, but particularly Platonism

Dr. Sebastian Moro Tornese at 32:12 of the most recent episode of our "Platonic Mysticism" podcast series "Untune the Sky...": as #Alcibiades says in the #Symposium, #Socrates is like a Silenus. He is this ecstatic figure because his words are like #magic. He has this power of #ecstasy.
