These niche courses are what make students fall in love with a subject! Small class sizes, intense focus - it’s a love story waiting to happen. In the UK, unfortunately, many unis are moving away from specialist modules to compulsory, broad, generic modules. To everyone’s detriment.

The cool thing about this PhD (beyond the funding) is you'll get to design your own project but also be part of a small team. It's associated with my project on the history of activism around AIDS denial wellcome.org/research-fun... & in September 2027 a postdoc will also join the project! #HistMed

Hi all, I need help with late 18th-century theology, specifically: was universal salvation a crackpot idea or widely accepted (c. 1790); what the likely interpretation of Romans 11 might've been then ('until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved') Help appreciated!

Gutted to be missing the Fortnum and Mason Food and Drink Awards 2026 tonight, but incredibly honoured that Filthy Queens: A History of Beer in Ireland made the shortlist amongst so many great books. Best of luck to everyone!

This is my regular reminder that I'm for hire if you want to give your staff or PGRs a facilited writing day this summer. They're is a great way to provide time and space to write in a structured and healthy way, and to spend time together in a way that builds relationships in a positive way.
