A fine corporate citizen. “The Newfoundland and Labrador government confirmed Tuesday that it was still trying to collect outstanding fees from EverWind Fuels for Crown lands set aside for the company's proposed wind-hydrogen operation on (the) Burin Peninsula.” www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

And most importantly, morality is not transactional.

Trump just claimed the United States had done “a lot” for Ukraine, but that Ukraine has done “nothing” for the United States. This is unjust in the highest degree. And not just untrue in the normal sense — it is a big lie, designed to bring about horror and chaos. snyder.substack.com/p/trumps-big...

Unsurprising. Let’s hope “the Trump curse” works as well on this genocidal monster as it did on the U..S. men’s soccer squad.

Trump also just thoughtfully saved the Nobel Peace Prize the work of having to rescind his award. I think “interfering with a foreign election while at the same time endorsing a psychopath leading a genocide” may be against the committee’s guidelines.

The same, for far too long, could have been said about women.

What were Blois and Fraser told about EverWind’s plans on Sept. 3? I hope journalists are checking all of the paperwork (meetings, construction permits, etc) on the data centre so I can stop assuming the public was the last to know about this seemingly done deal of EverWind hosting Anthropic.

Banning journalists and media outlets you don’t like is straight out of MAGA’s playbook. And any politicians there to support EverWind who didn’t object to this or walk out are complicit.

Tim Bousquet@timbousquet.bsky.social

Update: Both Joan Baxter and Jennifer Henderson were escorted out of the EverWind press conference by security. Both are older women who present no physical threat to anyone. Both behave as reporters do. But we (the Halifax Examiner) write critically about EverWind.

I live in her riding. If a red cardboard box ran in the next election, it would be our next Liberal MP. Only once since 1993 (and when Alexa McDonough led the NDP), was our MP not a Liberal. When she was made minister, I attributed it to a politically green Carney’s sparse knowledge of his MPs.

In Canada, Lake Ontario also comes in chocolate flavour. Much nicer than orange sour.

Nova Scotia - and other provinces - need to bring in produce labelling similar to Ontario’s, which mandates clear place of origin signs. An easy thing for the Houston gov’t to do. Otherwise, I expect other big retailers will follow Loblaw’s lead. Ontario rules here: www.ontario.ca/page/regulat...

Scientific American is 180 years old. The most eminent science magazine for the general public. And today, sold off as scrap to stop the staff from unionizing. Many top editors I've worked with for a decade on several articles have been fired. What a disgrace @sciam.bsky.social

The real focus of stories about this Trump post should be about his rapidly escalating unfitness to be president. Hopefully some major U.S. media outlet will have the courage. He needs to be removed immediately.
