Taxes Support Making Parksville Home 🏡 City facilities are used to provide many services to residents – such as City Hall, Jensen Centre, Parksville Outdoor Theatre, washroom facilities in parks, operations and fleet buildings, curling arena, Shelly Road Centre, and Parksville firehall.

Staff regularly maintain these buildings, provide janitorial services, minor repairs and renos, and prepare long-term maintenance and replacement plans for staff and community use. 2.5% of the annual budget or $1.84 per week per person is allocated to these services by 7 full-time staff.

DYK: Property taxes and development fees support services related to community planning and building inspections. Services include land use planning, development review, subdivision approvals, zoning and land use regulation, and interpretation of new provincial housing legislation.

Planning staff will lead the Official Community Plan review and update, a multi-year project included in the 2026-2030 financial plan. Staff also inspect new construction to ensure it complies with the BC Building Code and the City’s building bylaw.

City flags will be at half-mast tomorrow, June 23, to acknowledge National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism, a day to remember victims of terrorism around the world.

Summer is here! Did you know Parksville is home to some of the warmest ocean waters in Canada? Thanks to its wide, shallow shoreline, the water heats up more than most coastal spots, making it perfect for wading, swimming, paddleboarding, and long, sunny beach days.

HOW ARE PROPERTY TAXES CALCULATED? Property taxes are based on the assessed value of the property. Property taxes help fund roads, schools, police and fire protection, parks, and more. The amount you'll pay in annual property taxes depends on the assessed value of your property. #Parksville

The average residential Parksville home had an assessed value of about $766,900 in 2026, this means about $150 increase in the municipal portion of property taxes.
