#13: Blade of the Immortal I would like to turn Miike into a voodoo doll and taxidermy him. and then every 100 days, I shall remind him that this movie exists and, on that day, use his straw flesh to fuel hurting a totalitarian dictator from across dimensions.

# 12: Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky let me be rad ass cool ass muscle man as fuck enough to make my body a muchine of mass destruction. logic is overrated anyway.

this film is like a bomb that Miike forces you to watch the making of before setting a timer for it to then put it in the lap of a man that deserves far worse than that bomb. and then it rewards you by giving you a 45-minute explosion.

#9: Eternity A high-concept rom-com that's too old-fashioned for its own good. Elizabeth Olsen dies, goes to a celestial timeshare convention, and has one week to choose between her husband of 65 years (Miles Teller) and her first love who died in Korea (Callum Turner).

It's charming, the cast is game, and Teller plays a crotchety old man trapped in a thirty-something body with real commitment. But it's regressive, overlong, and skims the surface of questions it should be drilling into. Not a bad watch. Just a disappointing one.

The premise is clever—the afterlife as a franchise expo, with worlds like Studio 54 and Man Free World—but the film never digs deeper than "comfort vs. novelty."

#8: Ichi the Killer ahhhh, Miike! A man who, by all means, would have a very good career as a millitary commander. It takes something along the lines of talent to make this many movies this on time, and this often underbudget.

but the film is a highlights reel. Miike takes Yamamoto's sprawling, genuinely distressing manga and strips it down to the gore and the shocks. the slow-burn psychological erosion—the stuff that actually makes the comic so effective—is just gone. what's left is a cult classic, but a shallow one.

and then there is the actual talent of weird ass synthetic hyper silent astethic violance carrying the genre spectrum of all the moving pictures that have ever been made. which leads me to the opinion that the manga was better.

Tadanobu Asano clearly loves playing the tongue-swallowing sadomasochist. and honestly? good for him. he's the best thing in it. every giggle and dead-eyed stare is a guy who knows exactly how absurd this all is and is having a blast.

"Yeah the sky is blue and water is wet" *adjusts glasses* well actually~~ the sky is probably violet. If you look at the physics, shorter wavelengths of sunlight scatter more in the atmosphere. Violet has the shortest wavelength of visible light, so it should scatter the most

this whole Jacob Geller saga is heartbreaking to hear. His writing and analysis has always been a massive inspiration to me. I hope the victim is doing well and the last thing anyone should want is the kind of vitriolic cheers of violent glee not accordant or representative of real justice.

I believe in rehabilitation...It takes courage to admit to this kind of heinous crime. On the other hand the forgiveness is not mine to give. and the fact that this was not in accordance to the victims wishes is worrying.

i wish some of these folks doing budget open world RPGs would look at daggerfall, dragon's dogma, outward. there are just so many fascinating things to explore. socially seated knowledge and guilds, the (in daggerfall, generated) towns you actually learn and care about,

I'm a russian literature major. The first question fuckers ask me is always " wOnT aI tAkE yOuR jOb tHo؟". First of all...you think translation is just something you can leave to AI without oversight? And you think language is just translation?

Fourth...you have been telling me translation will be obsolete in five years five years ago. Then why is it that AI generated text has never been more recognizable???

Third...you dipshit. You barely know a second language...your idea of a good translation is using the same grammer rules for the same sentence in the secondary language.

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles. It's one of those games that you say you wanna play for half your life. But you never actually get to it. The enhanced edition sounded like the perfect opportunity. I went with the modern controls because I like playing tactics games with a mouse.

I feel like there is a lost era of developers making completely different games when porting games. it reminds me of the Bioshock mobile port.

I played a bit of Max Payne for the GBA last night, and it's weirdly great. After some practice it actually plays really well, and they even managed to capture the specific combat style of the og Max Payne: each encounter feels like a quick dance of death that could go either way at any moment.
