Lovely riverside walk along the Afon Ysgethin & up the Ardudwy trail to the isolated drovers & pack horse bridge at Pont Scethin surrounded by the Rhinog Mountains. Gill & I had always intended to visit here after seeing Fay Godwin’s photos of it & hopefully she was there in spirit.

Michaelmas Day 29th September. ‘A Day in Autumn’ - #RSThomas (Poetry for Supper, Rupert Hart-Davis 1958)

Michaelmas Day 29th September. Not found mention of Michaelmas or St Michael in his poems, but RS Thomas studied theology at St Michael’s College Llandaff, was later vicar of St Michael’s Manafon, then St Michael’s Eglwysfach. Also he died just 4 days before Michaelmas. ‘A Day in Autumn’ - #RSThomas

It's European Day of Languages, so here are some of our favourite untranslatable and wonderfully-specific words from across Europe that we wish we had in English ✨

The giant earth ripples of Hambledon Hill last Sunday. Lay in the wind-shade on top, ate lunch and watched kites, buzzards and crows against the blue, isolated cirrus skeins drifting eastward high over Blackmore Vale ☺️ #hillfortswednesday #Hambledon #dorset

My first morning in the Omaze house. I didn’t sleep. I could hear crying from behind the door I’m not allowed to open. The only thing to eat is frozen prawns. I went for a wander round the 4 acre garden and found a box of VHS tapes marked ‘For the next one’. I’m sure it’s fine. I’m sure it’s all fine
