New York State of Mind

Midterm election spending has exceeded $10 Billion. This floodgate of dark money was opened by the Supreme Court of the United States with their 2012 "Citizens United" decision. Let's shut it down by 2028. www.npr.org/2026/10/16/n...

“Freefall” - Rory Kennedy’s follow-up Netflix documentary on the ongoing safety failures at Boeing and the company’s retaliation against workers and whistleblowers - is one of the most important and terrifying films of this or any other year. time.com/article/2026...

Amazing! The GOP science deniers in Congress quickly released the heroic Dr. Anthony Fauci’s diary and subject him to another clown show hearing. Yet Republicans sit on their hands and help this administration to withhold and cover up millions of pages of the Epstein files. The Epstein Class.

The daily posts, e-mails, substacks, podcasts and book launches by Democrats and others often feel more like money-making opportunities than principled stances against fascism and racism. I do not get that sense from either @aoc.bsky.social or @mayor.nyc.gov.

A friend of Filipino heritage experienced a hate crime yesterday morning while sitting quietly in the #FontainebleauVegas food court. 1 of 5 people at a table 10 feet away flung a cup of ketchup that hit her shirt, and went all over the table & floor. Security is reviewing overhead camera footage.

Thanks. Yes, I try to keep people up with the news here, but I also believe in pointing to good folks trying to make a difference in this world by working to feed the hungry. Good news is news, too. XOXOXO

Beyond inspiring to hear @brucespringsteen.net sing “Streets of Minneapolis” today at the Minnesota State Capitol for No Kings Day 3.0! Here’s a small clip from his amazing performance:

Jonathan Turley is just Mike Lindell with tenure.

Are you a married woman who enjoys exercising your constitutional right to vote? This afternoon, Senate Republicans and Trump hope to make it much harder for you. Call your senator and tell them to vote NO on the "SAVE" Act. act.indivisible.org/sign/stop-go...

Love it! Constructive bitching imo.

Happy Black History Month! February is a time to celebrate the achievements of Black Americans who have profoundly impacted our nation. Their contributions in every field showcase the strength, resilience, and brilliance that make our country great.

Folks, now is the time to flood the phones. Congress has an upcoming vote about funding ICE. Its important to call NOW whether your Rep/Sens are GOP or not. Very urgent. This app makes it incredibly easy; takes 1 minute. apps.apple.com/us/app/5-cal...

I shopped at a local market this afternoon for the first time after a year and a half in another state. Aside from some sale items, the prices across the board have skyrocketed. Trump-flation is out of control and likely to get much worse.

A Joro spider spinning a web under on a lamp post in the Meiji Jingu Shrine park in Tokyo last week. They are venomous but not considered lethal to humans.

As 2026 beckons, one thing is clear. The GOP is over. Trump and his efforts to wreck America, for heaven knows what reasons, have run out of steam. His cult is collapsing. It’s time for America to regain its position as a beacon of hope for the Free World.

In four days the Christmas holiday will be celebrated in many parts of the world. And 12 days later, 2026 will hopefully be the start of a cleansing #BlueTide 🌊 Happiest of holidays to all those on @bsky.app who gave me hope this year and who also taught me much. We are all #StrongerTogether

Tom Hanks understands that Covid is not over & that masks work! He says he’s in a play and can’t get sick. “I’ve had covid enough. I don’t want to do that again” This is the way. Wearing a mask helps keep you healthy and it protects those around you. A respirator like an N95 is best!

The Wall Street Journal just held and then rejected my comments on an editorial because I recounted what “young Republicans” reportedly said on their racist online group chat. Rape? Gas Chambers? Driving opponents to suicide? Loving Hitler? This is the mindset of GOP leaders in their 20s and 30s.

Chris Van Hollen. The Senator with tenacity and determination who had the guts to go down to CECOT and see Kilmar Abregu.

@bsky.app is starting to feel a little like Free France during WW2.

Happy Sunday!

A message for the most “transparent Administration” in history: Release the Epstein files.

Trumpstein” feels like the new Watergate. Only way worse.

Just take a breath when you have a free moment and listen.

See you tomorrow morning, America.

Got to meet Senator Klobuchar and Senator Cortez Masto and that was super cool but my favorite was a woman who came up and said “you speaking about your father almost made me lose my eyelashes!” Please follow the link below and help us with this terrible disease Thank you

Life imitates art tonight. As one of the panelists following the live broadcast of “Goodnight and Good Luck” began to criticize Dump, the feed was cut to a blank screen stating “the event has ended.” Thank you, George Clooney for using your clout to resurrect this important and timely polemic.

This terrible scene does little to change the perception that Democrats in Congress are weak and unwilling to stand up for their constituents.

The entire GOP seems rotten with corruption and self interest. They’ll kill you for a buck. www.propublica.org/article/joni...

Is it TACO Thursday?

Trump and his feckless GOP orcs have stolen the American dream.

If you’re a “Max” subscriber, run don’t walk to watch “2073.” Astonishing both that it got made and is now streaming. Ignore any bad reviews you read and watch it. Those reviews were likely paid for by Musk, Bezos, Thiel, Google, Zuckerberg et al. youtu.be/YDE97KrYDuU

CNN.com leads with the market having the “best day in over 16 years” due to Krasnov’s tariffs pause. A more honest headline would be: “Trillions lost in blatant stock manipulation scheme.” Will CNN call for all large short positions to be investigated?

My favorite sign at this morning’s Hands Off 2025 protest in Scottsdale AZ outside GOP hack David Schweikert’s office: “No Parking” transformed into “No king, any time.”

Yes!

Dear Dems. This is a reminder that Donald Trump rescinded the ethics rules preventing gifts to executive branch employees. Now would be a good time to propose legislation formalizing the prevention into a law Time to do things that make him react to you. apnews.com/article/trum...

If Trump is this afraid of Kamala, scurrying off to Fox like a frightened mouse, imagine how Putin and other fascist dictators will react to a President Harris.

BlueSky already feels like a breath of fresh air in that I am not being bombarded with right-wing propaganda.
