It’s a day to celebrate Katy @manningofficial.bsky.social and the joy she brings to this world. Here are glimpses of her TV debut, livening up a Softly Softly. Recorded on 18/12/1969 at TV Centre TC3. In that same studio one year later she’d be playing Jo Grant in The Mind of Evil #DoctorWho

Delighted to stumble upon this riveting book from Persephone. #DespisedAndRejected - what a title! It starts as a social comedy but becomes a fascinating study of thwarted gay desire, and pacifist ideals during the Great War.Told from a 1918 perspective; the year it was published – and banned.

If you’ve been following and enjoying my #PendasFen skeetalong, please consider picking up a copy of Scene By Scene. It is a detailed examination of the scripting and filming of a television masterpiece, drawing on fresh interviews and a huge archive of scripts and paperwork.

Remembering Radio Times's star photographer Don Smith, born #OTD in 1932, pictured in 1992 with a Rolleiflex camera bought around 1954 for £126 when he was earning £8 per week. Plus one of Don's classic portrait shots, of comedian Tony Hancock. @radiotimes.bsky.social
