There's something magical about turning your heat back on after months of not using it. It's the fourth quarter's version of summer's first waft of pool chlorine. That faint stink of singed metal is like if Yankee Candle had to come up with something to cover every holiday from Oct - Dec.

Good things from today: -call with my editor went well! -found out deadline is extended for a project I’m working on which was a huge relief! -Shorty the cat (one of my TNR cats that I care for) was out of sorts and not eating for the past two days, but he showed up for dinner/pets tonight!

New moon Saturday: a day for nesting and resting. Made omelettes for brunch, baked brownies and made a shepherd’s pie for dinner; did laundry, took a nap, and hung out with the cats.

Follow-up: I just had to come back to say that despite the brownie mix being expired and all of my doubt , I made these with coconut oil and they’re actually really good. And chewy!
